Metro's first six-coach train for Phase-IV operation reaches Delhi: DMRC

The first six-coach train for Delhi Metro's Phase-IV expansion arrived here on Friday, a statement said. The train set, manufactured by Alstom at its facility in Sricity near Chennai, was inaugurated on September 23 in the presence of Delhi Metro Railway Cooperation (DMRC) and Alstom delegates, the statement said. It has now been stationed at Delhi Metro's Mukundpur depot, where it will undergo a number of tests required for its statutory certification for revenue service as a part of established rules and protocols, it said. Under the RS-17 contract, DMRC will be receive a total of 312 metro coaches (52 trains) for the Phase-IV priority corridors, i.e. Majlis Park to Maujpur, Janakpuri West to R K Ashram Marg and Tughlakabad to Delhi Aerocity. These trains will arrive in Delhi in phases over the coming days, it said. Delhi metro services on Yellow Line to be affected from Nov 14-19

Metro services on the Yellow Line will be temporarily regulated from the night of November 14 to November 19 due to civil work on a 490-metre section of the Janakpuri West to R K Ashram. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the disruption is due to planned construction work on a 490-metre section between Janakpuri West and R K Ashram where the alignment crosses over Haiderpur Badli Mor. Train services on this stretch will be briefly affected from the night of November 14-15 to the night of November 19-20, it said. As a result, there will be no train service between Samaypur Badli and Jahangirpuri after 10.45 pm until the start of revenue services at 7.02 am. Delhi Metro to sell India International Trade Fair tickets at 55 stations

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Wednesday informed that tickets for the India International Trade Fair (IITF) will sold at 55 metro stations across its network. The Trade Fair will take place at Pragati Maidan from November 14 to 27. The online QR code-based tickets for the fair are already available on Delhi Metro application, it said. Delhi Metro will be selling tickets from Thursday at Bharat Mandapam complex in both online and offline mode for the first time ever, the statement said. From tomorrow onwards, IITF tickets will be sold at the customer care/ticket counters of 55 prominent metro stations till the last day of fair on November 27 as per the rates applicable for various categories/days, it stated. Delhi rail division implements crowd control measures after Mumbai stampede

The Northern Railways and the Delhi Rail Division on Sunday announced the implementation of special crowd management and control measures at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations till November 7 in view of the upcoming festive season. DMRC Phase-3: Tughlakabad-Aerocity underground tunnel corridor completed

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday completed underground tunnel between Chhatarpur and Chhatarpur Mandir stations on Phase-4 Golden Line, officials said. A 97-metre-long tunnel boring machine (TBM) broke through on Saturday morning at Chhatarpur Mandir station after boring an 860-metre-long tunnel, they said. Two parallel circular tunnels for up and down movement have been constructed on this stretch as part of the AerocityTughlakabad corridor. The breakthrough on the other parallel tunnel was achieved on August 21, the officials said. This new tunnel has been constructed at an average depth of approximately 12 metres. About 613 rings have been installed in the tunnel, with an inner diameter of 5.8 meters, DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said. Delhi Police to deploy undercover cops at metro stations for security

To combat rising crime rates and ensure the safety of passengers travelling in the Delhi Metro, the city police has implemented a new security strategy under which they will deploy officers in plain clothes at vulnerable metro stations during peak hours. The step was taken after the city police conducted a 'temporal and spatial analysis' to review its security plan as the national capital has witnessed a surge in ridership in recent months, leading to a corresponding increase in crime reports, official sources from police said. The 'temporal and spatial', are terms that refer to time and space. The data was collected from 190 metro stations to determine the time at which crime incidents remained high at stations. By analysing data from these 190 stations, the police identified 32 metro stations susceptible to theft, harassment, and other offences. Delhi Metro hits record ridership; extra trains added on Fridays, Saturdays

Delhi Metro has recorded 13 of its highest passenger journeys in the past one month, with daily commuters ranging from over 72 lakh to 78 lakh, according to an official statement issued here on Friday. In response to the increased ridership, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to run one extra train on all its lines on Fridays and Saturdays, officials said. "The passenger journeys registered by the Delhi Metro in the past four days have turned out to be among the top five journeys performed in the metro network, with the highest ever passenger journeys record made on August 20 at 77,49,682," DMRC's Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communication) Anuj Dayal, said. "In view of the increased passenger journeys, the DMRC has decided to run one extra train on all its Lines performing 84 extra train trips on Friday and Saturday. Metro passengers can travel with digital smart card as DMRC launches MJQRT

The Delhi Metro passengers can travel with a digital smart card for their daily journey from Friday as the DMRC has introduced the 'Multiple Journey QR Ticket' (MJQRT) facility in its existing mobile application. Like a metro smart card, the passengers can also recharge MJQRT with a maximum amount of up to Rs 3,000 as per their travel requirements. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, people will be able to view their journeys, including fare payments and recharges, on its app --- 'DMRC Momentum Delhi Sarthi 2.0'. Over 14,600 CCTVs are installed across the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation network making it one of the safest means of travel in Delhi and neighbouring cities, officials said on Tuesday. The statement from the DMRC comes days after the Delhi Police wrote a letter to the urban transporter to take measures to prevent security breaches and suicides on its premises. DMRC redesigns Phase-4 construction plans to avoid felling 69 trees

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has redesigned its Phase-4 construction plan to save 69 trees on the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg Corridor, officials said on Monday. They said that permission was received for felling overall 15,508 trees across Delhi for this phase, and approval was awaited for cutting 71 more on the Majlis ParkMaujpur Corridor. "The DMRC has redesigned its construction plans to avoid felling of 69 trees on the Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg corridor. Earlier, permission was sought for these trees as well. "For Phase-4 works overall, permission has been received for the cutting of 15,508 trees across Delhi. Out of these, 5,003 trees have been cut and over 7,000 have been transplanted," the official stated. Services delayed on Red Line after 'attempted cable theft', says DMRC

Services between the Shahdara and Dilshad Garden stations on Delhi Metro's Red Line are delayed due to an "attempted cable theft" in the early hours on Saturday, the DMRC said. The Red Line connects Rithala in Delhi to New Bus Adda in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. "Delay in services between Shahdara and Dilshad Garden. Delhi Metro services to commence at 4 am on all lines on Independence Day

The Delhi Metro will commence its services at 4 am on its all lines from all terminal stations on the Independence Day in order to facilitate the public to attend the ceremony, officials said on Tuesday. The train services will be available at a frequency of 15 minutes on all lines till 6 am on Thursday and thereafter, regular timetable will be followed for the rest of the day, they said.
