Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari held a meeting with Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday to review the progress of ongoing projects of the NHAI in the national capital. The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) released guidelines for admission of children with special needs (CWSN) for entry level classes in private schools. According to a circular issued on Friday, children with benchmark disabilities are eligible to apply. The term "benchmark disability" refers to a person with not less than 40 per cent of a specified disability that needs to be certified by a government hospital as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016. Children identified with intellectual disability, specific learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, or related categories may also be considered based on assessment or diagnostic reports, the circular stated. The age criteria for special needs applicants as of March 31, 2025 should be 3-7 years for pre-school/nursery, 4-8 years for kindergarten, and 5-9 years for class 1, as per the circular. Delhi government will provide subsidies to people to promote electric vehicle adoption in Delhi in its new policy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Delivering a valedictory address at Aironomics, 2025 convention, she highlighted Delhi government's different initiatives to combat air pollution. Transformation of all the vehicles, including private ones, into electric vehicles (EVs) is a big vision for which Delhi government is coming up with a new EV policy, she said. "We will urge people to purchase electric vehicles for which they will be provided subsidies," she said. Gupta also said that air pollution is a year long problem that required sustained efforts for which her government is hiring 1000 water sprinklers to be used to combat dust on the roads through out the year. The secretary of the Ministry of Heavy Industries received an e-mail on Friday threatening to blow up Udyog Bhawan, housing several central departments, sending the security apparatus into intense action, officials said. The e-mail threatened to blow up the building near the Central Secretariat using an improvised explosive device (IED) was received in the noon, prompting security officials to evacuate the premises by 3.15 pm. According to the Delhi Fire Service, they received a call regarding the threat e-mail at 1.01 pm and a team of fire brigade was rushed to the spot. Police said that the threat e-mail was sent to senior officials of the ministry, headquartered in Udyog Bhawan. The email reportedly mentioned plans to target the building with an IED. Security agencies have launched an investigation, and bomb detection and disposal squads were immediately deployed to sanitize the premises. The premises has been evacuated and a search operations is still underway.
There will be low to no water supply in parts of the national capital between May 31 and June 1, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said on Thursday. In a statement, the DJB said it will be taking up two maintenance works in South and Central Delhi. In South Delhi, the areas affected include Mehrauli township, Sarvapriya Vihar, Begumpur, Kalu Sarai, Sarvodya Enclave, Vijay Mandal DDA Flats, Azad Apartment, Adhchini, Katwaria Sarai Village, Qutub Institutional, and adjoining areas. "Due to shutdown for interconnecting the new 1,000 mm diameter Mehrauli main pipeline at various locations -- inside Deer Park pumping station, near 11 T Gate No 2 Aurobindo Marg and PWD store on Aurobindo Marg -- the water supply will be available at low pressure on May 31 evening and June 1 morning in the following areas," an official statement said. The GGF is a category II real estate-focused Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), which invests in South Delhi projects. "The investment has been made in Anand Niketan and Neeti Bagh, while the third project, in another Category A colony in South Delhi, is expected to come up in the next four months," a company statement said. The cumulative area of the three projects is about 70,000 square feet. The construction on the project in Anand Niketan commenced in January 2025, while the same in Neeti Bagh will begin next month. The CBI arrested six people and dismantled two illegal call centres for allegedly cheating Japanese citizens using tech support scams, officials said Thursday. After registering the case as part of its crackdown on cybercriminals in Operation Chakra V, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) worked closely with the Japan National Police Agency and Microsoft to identify the syndicate members and their locations. "This collaborative international engagement proved critical in identifying the perpetrators and tracing the operational structure of the syndicates, ultimately leading to the successful crackdown in India," the CBI said in a statement. Once the locations were identified, the CBI teams swooped down on 19 locations in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday during which six alleged gang members were arrested and two illegal call centres were dismantled. The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear next week a plea against proposed demolitions of certain alleged illegal properties at Jamia Nagar in the national capital. A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih initially asked the lawyer to approach the Delhi High Court against the notices for demolition issued by the civic authorities. Go to the high court, the CJI said. There was an order of this court that a 15-day prior notice was needed, the lawyer said. But here a notice pasted and it says we should evict. Officials will be taken to task if waterlogging is reported from areas they are responsible for, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta warned on Monday. She also asserted that no slums will be demolished in the city unless their residents are provided permanent houses. Gupta made the remarks in north Delhi's Shalimar Bagh, her constituency, where she inaugurated sewer, gas, and water pipelines.
