Outcome Budget: Delhi govt sets targets departments, agencies for 2023-24

The Delhi government has set targets for its departments and agencies, including opening more mohalla clinics for women and new classrooms in schools, in the current fiscal, according to an Outcome Budget document. The Planning Department on Tuesday shared the Outcome Budget document detailing targets achieved in 2021-22 and 2022-23 as well as the targets set for 2023-24. It detailed the targets and budget allocations for various schemes and programmes of the 22 departments and agencies in 2023-24. The Delhi government has mapped 248 schemes and listed various outcome and output indicators on which performance will be assessed at the end of the financial year. This will be then be presented in the assembly as the Outcome Budget. Efforts on to spruce up areas left out of G20 beautification drive: Atishi

Delhi minister Atishi on Tuesday said officials of various departments are on the ground to take stock of the work needed in areas that did not receive a facelift as part of the G20 beautification drive. The Public Works Department (PWD) minister inspected Press Enclave road in south Delhi on Tuesday morning. Talking to PTI video, she said, "Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised the people of Delhi that we will beautify the entire national capital the way we did with several areas during G20." "We held a review meeting and debriefing with all the departments yesterday. Today, all the departments are on the ground and making efforts to achieve the goal," she added. Atishi on Monday said the Delhi government will extend its beautification efforts to all parts of the national capital after G20 designated parts of the city witnessed a facelift for the international summit.

Canadian PM, delegation's earliest possible departure from Delhi is Tuesday

Canada on Monday said the earliest possible departure of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his delegation from the national capital is Tuesday late afternoon and that the country's armed forces are continuing with their best efforts to bring them back home. The prime minister and his delegation, who were to leave Delhi after the G20 summit on Sunday, are stranded here due to technical issues with their aircraft. Earlier in the day, a source in the know said that a ferry aircraft to fly them back is expected to land at the Delhi airport at around 10 pm on Monday. In an e-mailed statement to PTI, the Canadian Prime Minister's office said the Canadian Armed Forces continue their best efforts to get the delegation home. "We will keep you updated regularly as the situation evolves. Their latest update shows an earliest possible departure of Tuesday late afternoon. The situation remains fluid," Press Secretary Mohammad Hussain said in the statement.

Delhi top city for iPhone enthusiasts, beats Mumbai by big margin: Report

Delhi has emerged as the top city for iPhone enthusiasts as it beats the second in the chart, Mumbai, with a mammoth "182 per cent" more iPhone purchases this year so far, reveals a new report. The research, "iPhone unboxed" conducted by consumer electronics store chain Croma, found "47 per cent growth" in iPhone sales in Delhi from 2020 to 2021 and rose to "106 per cent" from 2021 to 2022 in the city. Over 100 toilets constructed for transgenders in Delhi, govt tells HC

Over 100 toilets have been built for exclusive use by transgender people in the national capital, the city authorities informed the Delhi High Court on Monday. The counsel for the social welfare department told a bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma that a total of 102 such toilets have been built and 194 more are under construction. "Efforts are being made and further action will be taken expeditiously," the counsel told the court. The counsel for the New Delhi Municipal Council (MDMC), which functions under the union ministry of home affairs, informed the bench that 12 toilets for transgender people are operational in the area under its jurisdiction and tenders for construction of 79 more have been awarded. The area is commonly referred to as Lutyens' Delhi. The Union home ministry on Saturday said no restrictions have been imposed on travel of governors and chief ministers to Delhi or its nearby areas in their state aircraft during the ongoing G20 Summit but those travelling in private chartered flights require prior approval. The home ministry's statement came after Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan Bhupesh Baghel and Ashok Gehlot respectively alleged that their travel plans were disrupted due to the "restrictions" imposed on air travel in and around Delhi. G20: Traffic curbs come into force in Delhi; police urge to use metro

Stringent traffic regulations were put in place in the New Delhi district on Friday morning while online delivery services, except for medicines, have been barred in the area where the G20 summit venue and hotels for delegates are located, officials said.
