6 killed, 15 injured in tanker-tractor collision in Sitapur

Six persons were killed and over a dozen critically injured when a tanker collided with a tractor on Sitapur-Lakhimpur highway here, a police official said Tuesday. The accident happened on Monday night at Tedva Chilola in Sitapur city area when the tractor carrying villagers was heading to a wedding ceremony, ADM Vinay Pathak said. Anil (30), Vinod (36), Tejpal (32), Choteylal (35), Ankit (24) and tractor driver Chota (21) were killed in the accident. Nearly 15 people suffered critical injuries, Pathak said. Top police and administration officials have met with the injured at a hospital. The Tanker driver has been arrested. A case has been registered at Kotwali Sitapur.

Japan announced a series of measures Tuesday to prevent car accidents caused by elderly drivers, including emergency brakes and vehicle-free zones around schools, following a string of crashes involving children. Nepal: 9 killed after jeep skids off road in Bajhang district

At least nine people were killed and four others sustained injuries after a jeep skidded off the road in Nepal's far western district of Bajhang on Monday.The incident occurred when a jeep en route from Chainpur to Masta rural municipality drove off the highway and plunged 200 metres down a mountainous slope at the Thaudi municipality.A joint rescue operation was carried out by Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army, owing to the difficulties in reaching the jeep that is stuck on the slope."We are carrying out the rescue operation. As the jeep is struck on the slope, we are having difficulties in reaching it. A mountaineering group says a Pakistani climber has been killed and Italian and Pakistani members of the same expedition have been injured after being caught in an avalanche on a mountain in northern Pakistan. UP: 6 dead, several injured in Sitapur road accident

Six people died and at least seven others injured after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Tedwa Chilaula area here on late Monday night.According to police, the victims were travelling in a tractor-trolley to attend a wedding, when a speeding oil tanker hit them from behind.The injured were immediately rushed to the district hospital here. Three critically injured people were later referred to the trauma centre in Lucknow for further treatment, the police said."A major accident has taken place due to a collision between a tanker and a tractor-trolley. TN to form monitoring committee to address water supply related issues

With acute water shortage prevailing in the state, the Tamil Nadu government will set up a monitoring committee to take up water supply related issues, Municipal Administration and Rural Development Minister S P Velumani said Monday. Three die as boat capsizes in Sutlej near Indo-Pak border

Three persons died when their boat capsized in the Sutlej river near the Indo-Pakistan border here Monday evening due to strong winds, officials said.
