Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said his government is utilising the taxpayers money to prioritise education, adding the students should make the country proud. He made the remark while addressing the students at the inauguration of a government school building in Pashchim Vihar. "When we (AAP) came to power, we doubled the budget for education. But it was not possible to build all these schools without the support of Delhi residents. It is the taxpayers money which has helped us to provide free education," Kejriwal said. "When you grow up and achieve something in life, remember the country paid for your education," he added. The chief minister said even if he dies he will be satisfied to have worked for the education of the kids from poor families. India and Nepal on Thursday signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for undertaking three High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, one each in education, health and culture sector at an estimated cost of NRs 122.52 million. NIIT Learning Systems on Wednesday posted a 23.27 per cent rise in its consolidated profit after tax at Rs 56.7 crore in the third quarter ended December 2023. The company had posted a PAT (profit after tax) of Rs 46 crore in the same period a year ago, NIIT Learning Systems said in a regulatory filing. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the country will no longer be given grades under the accreditation system, rather they will be categorised either as "accredited" or "not accredited", the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) decided on Saturday. In an executive council meeting held on Saturday, the NAAC also decided that the accredited institutions will be further given levels between one and five to encourage them to achieve the highest level. These sets of reforms will be implemented in two stages -- the binary accreditation (accredited or not accredited) system in the next four months, and Maturity-Based Graded Accreditation (level 1 to 5) by December.
