Electric vehicle leasing and lifecycle management platform Alt Mobility on Thursday said it has raised USD 6 million (nearly Rs 50 crore) in a funding round co-led by Shell Ventures, Eurazeo, EV2 Ventures and Twynam. UC Inclusive, Piper Serica, Pitchright and LetsVenture also participated in the round, which is a mix of equity and venture debt, the company said in a statement. The capital will be used for hiring engineering team to scale its Electric Vehicle (EV) asset management platform FleetOS, it added. It will also be used for setting up new verticals for fleets including drive-to-own model, parametric insurance, fleet depots and battery refurbishment unit, the company said. Besides, Alt Mobility said it plans to expand its presence in over 20 cities aiming to achieve an (Assets Under Management) AUM of USD 100mn in the next two years.

Electric vehicle maker EKA Mobility on Wednesday said it will supply 1,000 intercity electric buses to GreenCell Mobility. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which 1,000 intercity electric buses in 12-metre and 13.5-metre categories would be supplied by the company to GreenCell Mobility in the next few years, EKA Mobility said in a statement. EKA Mobility will be responsible for supply, sales, and service of these buses, along with delivering quality certification reports. "Our collaboration with GreenCell Mobility is strategically positioned to usher in a cleaner, more sustainable future through electric mass transportation," EKA Mobility Founder and Chairman Sudhir Mehta said. GreenCell Mobility MD and CEO Devndra Chawla said,"This partnership not only strengthens our position in the market but also significantly aligns with our long-term vision for sustainable mobility.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that 1,400 new electric buses will be added to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation by April next year. In the first phase, he flagged off 100 non-AC electric buses of the BMTC at Vidhana Soudha here. "So far, Karnataka women have undertaken 120 crore rides in state transport buses for free since the launch of the Shakti scheme. A total of 40 lakh people travel on BMTC every day. In this, women of all castes, all religions and all walks of life are travelling for free," he said. The new electric buses have been added to promote public transport services and also curb increasing vehicular pollution in the city, he added. Despite the lingering counterparty risks and poor availability of charging stations, the share of electric buses (e-buses) is set to double to 8 per cent next fiscal, driven by supportive policy measures and favourable ownership costs, says a report. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flagged off 500 electric buses here on Thursday, taking the number of such buses in the national capital to 1,300. In a post on 'X', Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said no other city in the country has so many electric buses plying. "Delhi will now have maximum number of electric buses in the country," he said. As many as 800 electric buses have been plying on Delhi roads since January 2022. These buses have covered a distance of more than 42 million kilometres and cut more than 34,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide so far, an official said. By 2025, Delhi will have a total of 10,480 buses with electric ones making up 80 per cent of the fleet. This will help cut 4.67 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, according to the official. The new buses are disabled-friendly, air-conditioned, emit zero smoke and noise, and are equipped with GPS, CCTVs and panic buttons.

The Delhi government is likely to impose a complete ban on passenger buses except those running on CNG, electricity and BS-VI diesel from entering the national capital in view of the pollution situation. Restrictions under GRAP Stage IV are currently in place in Delhi amid plummeting air quality in the national capital. At present, only trucks are barred from entering the city. A source said, "Chhath Puja is around the corner and there is a huge rush being witnessed because of it. We are planning to implement a ban after the festival." Last month, the Delhi government directed that all buses entering the national capital from Haryana will have to be run on electricity, CNG or BS-VI diesel. Buses entering from the NCR regions of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan also need to follow these norms. The city government's transport department said all buses entering Delhi from any city or town in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh from July 1 will only be those that run on electricity, CNG

The Delhi government has inked an agreement with Switch Mobility for 950 low-floor electric buses. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot told PTI that the 12-metre buses would start arriving within four to six months. These e-buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras, panic buttons and GPS devices, Gahlot said, adding that Delhi has the highest number of electric buses in the country. In a post on X, Delhi Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra said, "Delhi Government signs an agreement with @SwitchMobility for 950 low-floor 12-meter electric buses under National bus programme." GreenCell Mobility and VE Commercial Vehicles on Friday said they have entered into an agreement for supply of 1,000 electric buses in the next five years. The two parties have signed a memorandum of understanding, which envisages VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) supplying 1,000 Eicher electric buses to GreenCell's intercity bus business, NueGo, the two companies said in a joint statement. NueGo is already operating in over 30 cities, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Agra, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Bhopal, Indore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Tirupati, Chennai and Pondicherry. Electric bus maker PMI Electro Mobility Solutions plans to raise around Rs 250 crore to part fund doubling of production capacity and meet working capital requirements, according to company CEO Aanchal Jain. The company, which is setting up a new manufacturing unit in Pune, could put in an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore in the expansion. PMI Electro Mobility Solutions (PMI) currently has an annual manufacturing capacity of 1,500 units, which can be increased to 2,500 to 3,000 units on multiple shifts, at its plant at Dharuhera in Haryana. "We have another construction going on at Pune, which will add another 3,000 units capacity (annually) to us," Jain told PTI. She said the Pune plant is a joint venture with BeiqiFoton Motors of China, with which PMI has a technical tie-up. Electric tourist bus service NueGo promoted by GreenCell Mobility would soon ply on the local routes in Tamil Nadu, the state government said on Sunday. Recently, NueGo became the first battery-operated transport vehicle to be registered in the state following the government order stating all such passenger vehicles shall be issued permits by the transport department.
