Carlton Cuse to step down as showrunner of 'Jack Ryan' after season two

Carlton Cuse, the showrunner of Amazon's "Jack Ryan" series, will not be returning for the show's third season. Amazon had renewed the spy thriller series, based on the character from several Tom Clancy novels, for a third season in February this year. Cuse is currently working on the sophomore season of the smash-hit show, which features John Krasinski in the lead. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cuse will be stepping back from day-to-day showrunner duties after the second season. He, however, will remain involved in the series as an executive producer. The makers have started looking for a new showrunner. After the second season of "Jack Ryan", Cuse is expected to focus his attention on his Netflix series, "Locke & Key". He is also developing shows for Disney's upcoming streaming service Disney+.

Taraji P Henson, Ed Helms to star in Netflix's 'Coffee & Kareem'

Taraji P Henson and Ed Helms will topline Netflix's new comedy "Coffee & Kareem". The film will be directed by Canadian filmmaker Michael Dowse, best known for comedies such as "Goon" and "Stuber", the streaming giant said in a statement. Shane McCarthy has penned the script. The story follows a Detroit cop who reluctantly teams with his girlfriend's 11 year-old son to clear his name and take down the city's most ruthless criminal. Helms will also produce the project with Mike Falbo through their banner Pacific Electric Pictures Co. Sanford Nelson, Jordon Foss, Linden Nelson, and Don Foss will serving as executive producers. Henson currently features in comedy "What Men Want", while Helms was most recently seen in "Tag", alongside Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm.

Rachel Weisz to produce and star in 'Lanny'

Actor Rachel Weisz will star in and produce the film adaptation of Max Porter's novel "Lanny". Porter's book, a follow-up to his 2015 novel "Grief is the Thing with Feathers", was optioned by The Bureau, BBC Films and Weisz, and they have started working on the project. According to Variety, the actor will produce the film along with The Bureau's Tristan Goligher. The story follows Lanny, who moves his family to a commuter village close to London that is filled with mysterious characters and myths that tap into English folklore. The team is currently looking for a screenwriter to adapt Porter's book. Weisz, 49, most recently won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos' "The Favourite".

UNDP appoints Padma Lakshmi as Goodwill Ambassador

Indian-American television personality and food expert Padma Lakshmi has been appointed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as its newest Goodwill Ambassador, supporting the agency's fight against inequality and discrimination around the world. UNDP announced Lakshmi's appointment here Thursday, on the eve of International Women's Day. Maker of film '#MeToo' moves HC against censor board order to change movie name

The producer of the film '#MeToo', which portrays kidnapping of a girl with the motive of committing a sexual crime, has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the order of censor board asking it to change the title of the film and make several cuts. The petition is likely to come up for hearing before Justice Vibhu Bakhru on Friday. Producer Sajid Iqbal Qureshi sought setting aside of the November 12, 2018 order of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) by which it directed public exhibition of the movie be restricted to adults subject to carrying out of "several excisions/modifications/ cuts". The board also asked them to change the title of the movie or insertion of disclaimer, the plea said and sought a stay on the CBFC order.
