35 killed, over 450 injured in fire at Bangladesh chemical container depot

At least 35 people were killed and over 450 injured in a massive fire caused by an explosion that swept through a private chemical container depot in southeastern Bangladesh, officials said on Sunday. On Saturday night, the fire broke out at BM Container Depot in the Kadamrasul area in Sitakunda Upazila in Chittagong. So far 35 dead bodies reached the morgue here, a police officer stationed at the state-run Chattagram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) told newsmen. Over 450 people have been injured in this incident of which, at least 350 are at CMCH," Istakul Islam, chief of the Health & Service Department at Red Crescent Youth Chittagong was quoted as saying by the Dhaka Tribune. "The death toll could be more at other hospitals, Islam said. Fire at incense sticks manufacturing unit in Nagpur, nobody injured

A fire broke out in an incense sticks manufacturing unit located in Yashodhra Nagar area of Nagpur city on Friday, an official said. Nobody was reported injured in the blaze that erupted around 12.20 pm, Nagpur Municipal Corporation's chief fire officer Rajendra Uchake said in a statement. Five water tenders and as many tankers of the water works department were rushed to the spot for firefighting, he said. It is a ground plus single-storey tin shed structure, where raw material of incense sticks, which is highly combustible, was stored.

25 injured in fire at Bharat Rasayan's factory in Gujarat's Dahej

At least six workers were injured after a major fire broke out in a chemical factory at Dahej in Gujarat's Bharuch district on Tuesday, police said. The fire broke out at Bharat Rasayan's unit and rescue operation was underway, said Superintendent of Police Leena Patil. Six workers have been taken to a hospital in Bharuch city, she added. District collector Tushar Sumera said fire fighting was still underway. "The picture will become clear once the fire is doused and rescue teams enter the premises," he said. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, officials said.
