A major fire broke out on Saturday morning in a multi-storey building in the central part of the city's Ezra Street area, police said. No one was injured in the fire, the police said. At least 20 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze that originated in an electronics goods warehouse and quickly spread through the congested area, they said. The fire has not yet been brought under control, even six hours after it broke out, they said. "The fire broke out at around 5.30 am, and 20 fire engines were deployed to control the blaze. Our firefighters began operations on arrival, but despite several hours of continuous effort, the fire has not yet been fully contained," a senior official of the state Fire Services department said. A massive fire broke out in a cluster of huts near Rithala metro station in Delhi's Rohini late on Friday night, Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said. The DFS said it received a call regarding the blaze at around 10.56 pm, following which 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters are currently engaged in dousing the flames. Preliminary information suggests that several huts have been gutted. Meanwhile, police sources said that several LPG cylinders were said to have exploded, intensifying the blaze and triggering panic among residents. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the area even as locals scrambled to save their belongings and move to safer places. Police have cordoned off the area, and additional fire tenders have been kept on standby to prevent the fire from spreading further. "Our teams are working to douse the flames. A fire and explosion at a convenience store in northwestern Mexico on Saturday killed at least 23 people, including children, and injured 12 others, state authorities said. The fire occurred in downtown Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora state, Sonora Gov. Alfonso Durazo said in a video posted on social media. Sonora Attorney General Gustavo Salas Chvez provided the death toll and said the injured were taken to six hospitals in Hermosillo. Andhra Pradesh Police suspect the involvement of third vehicle in the recent bus fire accident that claimed the lives of 19 passengers. In the wee hours of October 24, the Bengaluru bound sleeper bus ran over a bike, which had already met with an accident at Chinna Tekuru village in Kurnool district. As the bike was caught underneath the bus and was being dragged along with the bus, it's fuel tank cap opened leading to the burst. Subsequently bus caught fire. Two persons suffered from suffocation after a fire broke out in a seven-storey residential building in Mumbai early on Wednesday, civic officials said. The blaze was reported in a flat on the second floor of Atul Cooperative Housing Society Ltd at Siddharth Nagar in Goregaon area at 3.53 am, they said. The fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the blaze by 4.15 am, a civic official said. Two persons -- Rameela Saha (65) and Krunal Saha (40) -- suffered from suffocation due to the smoke. They were admitted to the Kokilaben Hospital and their condition was stable, the official said. The fire was confined to the electric wiring, installations, an air-conditioning unit, household articles, wooden furniture, mattresses, and books in a bedroom of the second-floor flat, as per the officials. The cause of the fire was not yet known, they said. This was the second fire incident reported on Wednesday in the metropolis, after a blaze at the popular Crawford Market in south Mumbai.
A jammed door in the AC sleeper bus that caught fire near Jaisalmer was the main reason for the high number of casualties, police said on Wednesday. A four-storey chemical factory in Madhya Pradesh's Indore was gutted in a massive fire which broke out in the wee hours of Tuesday, a civic official said. No casualties were reported, he said. The blaze was reported at the chemical factory located in the Sanwer Road industrial area at 2.15 am on Tuesday, Indore Municipal Corporation's fire officer Vinod Mishra told PTI. He said the blaze was so severe that fire engines and firefighters were called in from Indore as well as nearby towns like Depalpur, Betma, Mhow, Pithampur and Sanwer to control it. The four-storey factory, spread over approximately 20,000 square feet, was reduced to ashes in the massive fire, the official said. "There are no reports of any casualties in the fire," he said. More than 100 water tankers were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control in the morning, Mishra said.
