Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini to carry out first cabinet expansion today

The Nayab Singh Saini government in Haryana will carry out its first cabinet expansion on Tuesday with sources saying that six to seven MLAs were likely to be inducted. Saini and five ministers were inducted into the cabinet last week. When asked about the cabinet expansion, former minister Anil Vij, who last week skipped Saini's swearing-in ceremony, said, "I have no information." He, however, reiterated that he was not upset. In the morning, Chief Minister Saini, while interacting with reporters after paying obeisance at Nada Sahib Gurdwara in Panchkula, said that Vij is "our respected leader and we have been regularly getting guidance from him". Centre, Haryana govt working together to uplift weaker sections: CM Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the BJP governments at the Centre and in Haryana have been working transparently and taking steps to uplift the weaker sections. The Narendra Modi government has worked towards the upliftment of the poor and weaker sections of the society and has undertaken several initiatives for their welfare, he said. In Haryana, the BJP government has taken several steps in the past nine-and-half years for the welfare of poor and weaker sections and provided jobs purely based on merit, the chief minister said. The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) had issued a whip, asking its 10 legislators to remain absent from the House during voting on the confidence motion. However, when the issue of trust vote was taken up, five of its MLAs left the House. In the 90-member state assembly, the BJP has 41 MLAs and it also enjoys the support of six of the seven independents as well as of lone Haryana Lokhit Party MLA Gopal Kanda. The JJP has 10 MLAs in the House. The main opposition Congress has 30 MLAs while the Indian National Lok Dal has one.

Haryana CM Khattar announces development projects worth Rs 700 cr for Nuh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Saturday announced development projects worth approximately Rs 700 crore for Nuh district on Saturday. Haryana Assembly passes Bill to prohibit opening, running hookah bars

The Haryana Assembly on Monday passed a bill that prohibits opening or running hookah bars or serving hookah to customers in any place, including eating houses, in the state. The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Haryana Amendment Bill, 2024, was passed in the evening. Home Minister Anil Vij had moved the bill in the House. According to the bill, after Section 4 of the principal Act (central law) -- The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution), Act, 2003, -- "The following section shall be inserted: '4-A. Prohibition of hookah bar -- Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, no person shall either on his own or on behalf of any other person, open or run any hookah bar or serve hookah to a customer in any place, including an eating house'." Unidentified assailants shot dead the Indian National Lok Dal's Haryana unit president Nafe Singh Rathee in Jhajjar district on Sunday, according to a senior party leader. Rathee, a former MLA, was travelling in an SUV when the assailants, who were in a car, attacked him in Jhajjar's Bahadurgarh town. INLD leader Abhay Chautala told PTI that Rathee was shot dead in Jhajjar district. He accused the government of failing to provide Rathee with security despite their being threat to his life, and demanded the resignation of the chief minister and the home minister.
