Haryana govt to develop film city in Pinjore over 100 acres: CM Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the state government has decided to develop a film city at Pinjore in Panchkula district to support artists and promote the film industry. The film city will be established over 100 acres of land. The chief minister said the land has already been identified and the process of appointing a consultant for the project is underway. The work of film city is expected to commence soon, he added. Saini said another film city will be developed in Gurugram, adding the land selection process for this phase is currently in progress. These initiatives will not only benefit professionals associated with the film industry but will also create new employment opportunities in the state, he said. The chief minister was addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day film festival held at Maharishi Dayanand University. He assured the artists associated with the film industry that efforts would be made to telecast one Haryanvi film every week

Haryana amnesty scheme to offer relief on GST penalties for taxpayers

Taxpayers will be granted relief on interest and penalty amounts payable under the GST Act for the financial years 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 under an amnesty scheme introduced by the Haryana government, provided they deposit the principal tax amount by March 31, 2025, as per an official statement on Sunday. Providing details about this initiative, Geetanjali Mor, Joint Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Gurugram Range), said the Haryana government in October 2024 launched the Amnesty Scheme for taxpayers registered under the GST Act. Under this scheme, taxpayers can avail of relief from interest and penalty amounts by depositing the principal tax due under Section 73 of the GST Act, 2017 for 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20, on or before March 31, 2025, Mor said. To benefit from this scheme, taxpayers must deposit the principal tax amount before the deadline to secure relief on interest and penalties, she said. Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil on Saturday stressed the importance of water conservation, stating that it is the need of the hour, as he launched the nationwide campaign "Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025" from Panchkula. Addressing a gathering at the event, Patil said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had emphasised turning water conservation into a people's movement, and "today's event is a reflection of that." Opposition raises concerns over mounting debt in Haryana assembly

Opposition Congress and INLD MLAs in Haryana on Thursday expressed concern over the mounting debt as they also raised issues related to health, education and drug menace in the State Assembly. Participating in the discussion on the state budget in the State Assembly, Congress MLA from Kaithal, Aditya Surjewala said while the budget talks about making the state future-capable, in reality it lacks vision. He claimed there were a few proposals in the budget like the one to set up a flower market in Gurugram which were "recycled schemes" announced earlier. The construction of an international-level Aravalli Jungle Safari on 10,000 acres of land in Gurugram and Nuh districts is also an old scheme, Surjewala said. Farmers' protest: Traffic resumes at Shambhu border, Khanauri set to open

Haryana CM proposes urban drainage fund of Rs 100 cr to improve infra

An Urban Drainage Fund with Rs 100 crore corpus will be set up to improve drainage infrastructure in all cities of Haryana, said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while presenting his government's Budget for the 2025-26 fiscal on Monday. This dedicated fund will launch projects to ensure sustainable flood management and protect cities from disasters. CM Sukhu presents Rs 58,514 cr budget with focus on tourism, green energy

With a focus on tourism, rural development and green energy, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday presented the annual Budget of Rs 58,514 crore for 2025-26. While presenting his third annual Budget for FY26, Sukhu said the year 2025-26 is full of financial challenges as revenue deficit grant has been reduced and GST compensation has been stopped which will impact the state's economy.
