India's first Vande Metro between Bhuj, Ahmedabad to transform travel: Rlys

India's first Vande Metro, which will be virtually flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in Gujarat is poised to transform inter-city travel with its advanced medium-distance capabilities, the Railway Ministry said. While PM Modi will be in Ahmedabad, the train will start from Bhuj and reach Ahmedabad covering 359 km of distance in 5.45 hours. For passengers, its regular service will start from September 17 from Ahmedabad and the total journey will cost Rs 455. While the other metros cover only short distances, Vande Metro trains will connect cities from the heart of the city to the peripheral cities," the ministry said. It added that the word metro' gives an impression of urban landscape, however, Vande Metro was conceptualised by incorporating numerous advancements. Eastern Railways saves electrical energy worth Rs 12 cr in Q1 of 2024-25

Eastern Railway saved electrical energy worth over Rs 12 crore in the first quarter of 2024-25 by using comprehensive measures to save traction and non-traction energy, an official said on Monday. He said that through the regeneration of energy by three-phase locomotives, the Kolkata-headquartered ER saved 1,09,84,814 units of energy, amounting to savings of approximately Rs 8.06 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year. Comprehensive measures to reduce use of traction and non-traction energy led to reducing its carbon footprint and saving electrical energy worth over Rs 12 crore in the first quarter of 2024-25 fiscal, ER spokesperson Kausik Mitra said. "In June 2024 alone, regeneration in 51 three-phase locos resulted in savings of 25,83,640 units of energy, which translates to approximately Rs 1.94 crore in savings in energy bill for the month," he said. India's first semi high-speed regional rail services named RAPIDX: Official

India's first semi-high-speed regional rail services have been named 'RAPIDX' by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), officials said on Tuesday. The trains will run on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors, being implemented to connect key urban nodes across the National Capital Region (NCR), they said. The brand name has been chosen as 'RAPIDX' since it is easy to read and simple to pronounce in various languages. "In addition to signifying speed and progress, the X in the name denotes next generation technology and the new-age mobility solution. It also represents youth, optimism, and energy," NCRTC officials said. The green leaf symbol in the logo is the highlight of the brand's aim towards decarbonisation by not only decongesting NCR by reducing the number of vehicles on the road but also by the use of green energy. L&T Construction to build part of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train track

L&T on Thursday said its construction arm has won a large contract for the bullet train project. L&T Construction has bagged the project from National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL). "The railways business of L&T Construction has secured acontract from NHSRCL to construct 116 route km of High-Speed ballastless track works for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, popularly referred to as the bullet train project," the company said in a statement. Upon completion, this slab track system will enable trains to travel at a speed of up to 320 kilometers per hour.
