UNESCO, Sahapedia join hands for 2nd India Heritage Walk Festival
The second edition of the India Heritage Walk Festival (IHWF) will be held across 37 cities in February, with the UNESCO joining hands with Sahapedia this year, organisers said Thursday. The festival will be held from February 2-28, with a focus on heritage education and walks for people with special needs, festival director Vaibhav Chauhan told reporters here. "We have added more tier-II and tier-III cities after getting a very good response last year. So, cities like Allahabad, Lucknow and Patna will feature in this edition," he said. The IHWF, which received the PATA Gold Award 2018 for its maiden pan-India event, will kick-start with a heritage walk in Ahmedabad on February 2, focusing on the religious history and co-existence of multiple faiths in that city. The inaugural day will also have parallel heritage walks in other cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi, Guwahati, Pune, Udaipur, Kolkata, Puducherry and Chennai. Two die of asphyxiation in Delhi
Two men were suffocated to death in Delhi's Civil Lines area after they slept with a clay oven, which had been left burning, in a closed room, police said Thursday. The deceased were identified as Ranjeet (45) and Chandan (25), natives of Uttarakhand. They were employed as domestic helps at the residence of a hotelier for the past eight to ten years, they said. On Thursday, the hotelier became suspicious when Ranjeet and Chandan did not come out of their room and he informed police at around 9 am, the police said. Police, along with fire officials, reached the spot. Fire officials broke open the door and found the two men lying unconscious inside, they said. They were rushed to Aruna Asaf Ali Government Hospital where doctors declared them brought dead, a senior police official said. Rs 2,000 fine for boozing, cooking on Goa beaches: Minister
Drinking alcohol or cooking in public on Goa's beaches will now attract a fine of Rs 2,000 or imprisonment for up to three months, according to an amendment to the Registration of Tourist Trade act which was approved by the state cabinet on Thursday.

The Philippines welcomed a record 7.1 million tourists to its beaches and dive spots in 2018, despite its most famous resort Boracay being shut half the year to recover, authorities said Thursday. The archipelago nation of over 7,000 islands saw the number of visitors jump by nearly eight per cent over the previous year, with South Koreans leading the way as its top tourists. Snowfall brings tourists to U'khand
Snowfall in the hills of Uttarakhand over the last couple of days drew hordes of tourists to the picturesque locations across the state. Ola to have 5,000 bike driver partners in Hyderabad
App-based cab aggregator Ola Wednesday said it was aiming to have 5,000 bike driver partners under its fold in the city in a phased manner. 8 member teams leaves for Stok Kangri
An eight-member expedition team including six from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TASF) have left here to attempt winter ascent of Stok Kangri (20,180 ft) located in Leh region. Stok Kangri is a 6000 m peak in Indian Himalayas which attracts climbers from India and abroad during the summer season. However, summiting the peak during winter is rarely attempted owing to the extreme cold and severe climatic conditions, said Everesters Bachendri Pal, chief of TASF, and Hemant Gupta, secretary of TASF on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference before leaving for the expedition, they said the TSAF winter expedition would be highly demanding on body and mind of the participants. One would need to be prepared for tough days at high altitude in harsh winter environment. Expected temperatures on "summit day" is around -35 C, and factoring in the wind chill, can go as low as -40C, they said. The team would climb the summit on January 31 after they occupy summit camp (4900 m) a day .

Japan's Henn na Hotel hoped its robot staff will amuse guests and make daily dealings easier. However, the opposite happened, ending in many of the unusual robots losing their jobs.The hotel hired its first robot staff back in 2015 to become the most efficient hotel in the world. Four years later, the team of 243 robots became less of a novelty and more of a nuisance, Cnet reported.The robots were not able to execute some of the most basic tasks, leading to the expulsion of half of them. Guests complained of the virtual assistant robot Churi who would wake up guests over snoring, or interrupt conversations.Among the fired robot staff were humanoid concierge robots, animatronic dinosaur check-in robots, robot dancers in the lobby, and bellhop robots who carried luggage.

A Virtual Coach Room set up at the railway pavilion in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to showcase the country's first engine-less trainset, called Train 18, was praised by visitors, a senior Western Railway official said Tuesday.
