The Election Commission of India (ECI) is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that every eligible citizen casts their vote in the upcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, even if the number of electors is in single digits.One such case has come to the fore in Bharatpur-Sonhat Assembly constituency. In polling booth number 143 in Sherandandh village of the constituency, there are only four voters, out of which three are from the same family.District Election Officer NK Dugga said the polling party will reach there a day before polls and set a tent for voters.To reach Sherandandh, a forest village, the ECI team will have to go an extra mile through rocky mountains for five to six kilometres and cross a river. Chinese archaeologists discover 2,000-year-old liquor from ancient tomb
Archaeologists have unearthed a bronze pot, dating back some 2,000 years with some liquid likely to be rice wine, from a Western Han dynasty tomb in central China's Henan province, according to a media report Tuesday. The liquid when poured into a measuring glass it gave off an aroma of rice wine, a senior Chinese archaeologist said. "There was about 3.5 litres of the transparent yellow colour liquid in it. It smelled like wine," said Shi Jiazhen, head of the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology in the city of Luoyang. He said that there was a need for further research on the discovered pot's content to accurately ascertain the ingredients of the liquid. Apart from the bronze pot, a large number of colour-painted clay pots and bronze artifacts were also unearthed from the tomb, which covers 210 square metres, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. China-Pakistan bus service launched
A private bus service between Lahore in Pakistan and Kashgar in China was launched on late Monday night.The first bus left for Kashgar from the Lahore terminal in Gulberg area. It will cover the one-way journey in two days (30 hours), Dunyanews reported.The bus service was slated to launch on November 3 but was postponed due to security reasons.Passengers availing the service will have to shell out PKR 23,000 per ticket for a round trip, while a one-way ticket from Lahore to Kashgar will cost PKR 13,000 per person. Similarly, a one-way ticket from Kashgar to Lahore will cost RMB 600 per seat.During the two-day journey, the passengers will have multiple stops, including one at Islamabad or Rawalpindi to pick passengers, and scheduled stops at Mansehra for breakfast, Besham for lunch, Chelas for tea and Gilgit for dinner on a trip from Lahore to Kashgar on the first day.On the second day of the journey, a breakfast halt will be made at Sost before heading towards the Sost border for ...

India, South Korea sign MoU to strengthen cooperation in tourism
The Ministry of Tourism Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, South Korea to strengthen cooperation in tourism. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism K J Alphons and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Republic of Korea Do Jong-hwan signed the MoU here, a statement from the ministry said. Officials from the ministry and their counterparts from Korea were also present during the signing ceremony, it added. Three die in UP as bike falls into river
Three men died when the motorcycle they were riding on, crashed through a broken railing in Chaubepur and plunged 30 metres down into a river on Monday, police said. The incident occurred when the victims were en route to Kanpur from Shivrajpur, Chaubepur Station Officer (SO), Devendra Singh said. Babu Lal Kuril (28) was riding the bike while his cousin Praveen (30) and Sonu (26) were riding pillion, the SO said. While Praveen was a resident of Govind Nagar, Sonu stayed at Latouch road, the SO added.
Facilitation booth at IGI to provide info in 10 languages to tourists
A special counter that will provide information in ten languages to tourists was Monday installed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here, an official statement said. Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons inaugurated the facilitation booth that will cater to both international and domestic tourists, 24 hours of the day, seven days a week. "The Ministry of Tourism has set-up this counter with an objective to provide 24x7 information to both domestic and international visitors arriving at IGI Airport, New Delhi," the statement said. Manned by two staffers and a supervisor, the counter will answer the queries of tourists and also guide them with information, it added. "The counter will also be connected to the 24x7 helpline-- 1363 of the Ministry of Tourism through which the non-English speaking tourists will get guidance in French, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Arabic," the statement said. Archaeological museum coming up in Modi's hometown
A new archaeological museum, coming up in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's hometown Vadnagar in Gujarat, will house coins dating back to 3rd century BC and artifacts excavated from the area over the last 13 years besides other rare items, an official has said. The design of the new museum, spread over 6,000 square metres, was approved by Modi in 2012, when he was chief minister, Y S Rawat, Officer on Special Duty at the state's sports, youth and cultural activities department, told PTI. Six years after the approval of the design, actual construction on the new archaeological museum began a couple of months ago. The construction was delayed by several years as two contractors backed out of the project due to issues arising out of the building's designs, Rawat said. The new museum will replace the old one built in the town in 1996 which was partly damaged in the 2001 earthquake, he said. Protests marred voting at Haraginadoni village in Ballari as women staged a demonstration holding empty pots and boycotted the Lok Sabha by-elections Saturday. The villagers were protesting the lack of water supply in their village.
