Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals to set up 100 eye care centres

Eye care major Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals Pvt Ltd on Tuesday said it would invest Rs 400 crore to set up 100 eye care centers in Tamil Nadu. Under the proposed investment plan, Maxivision Super Speciality on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu Government in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin at the Secretariat here. Accordingly, the eye care provider would set up the eye care centres in tier II and III cities that would generate 2,000 jobs in the state. Maxivision Super Speciality has set up super speciality eye hospitals in Telangana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. According to the website of the eye care provider, Maxivision Eye Hospital was set up in 1996 by ophthalmologist Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy. He later joined hands with Trivitron HealthCare Group founder-chairman G S K Velu. G20 meet: 3 private hospitals among 8 medical facilities put on high alert

Five government hospitals and three private medical facilities have been put on "high alert" in view of the upcoming G20 Summit in the national capital, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has said. The Delhi health department has formed 80 teams of doctors and nursing staff, who will serve guests staying at hotels. Out of these teams, 75 teams will work in shifts, officials said on Wednesday. Bharadwaj convened a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to take stock of healthcare arrangements in view of the Summit scheduled to be held from September 9 to 10. Subsidised meal initiative at Jammu's GMC hospital garners huge response

A subsidised meal initiative -- 'Thali for Rs 10' -- introduced by a non-profit organisation at the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital here has drawn a huge response from patients' families with nearly 400 people availing the facility on the first day alone. Sewa Bharti, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) renowned in the region for supporting vulnerable communities, introduced the 'Apna Bhojnalaya' initiative at the hospital here on Monday. This step seeks to provide affordable and nourishing meals priced at just Rs 10 to the caregivers of patients visiting Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Sumit Mahajan, one of the managers of the food point, told PTI. Maharashtra govt issues order on free of cost treatment at public hospitals

Health services, including treatment, in all government hospitals in Maharashtra falling under the public health department's jurisdiction have been made available free of cost for patients, the state government said on Wednesday. Medical tests, treatment and all other services provided on public-private partnership, excluding blood supply, are available free of cost to patients from August 15, said a government resolution (GR). The decision to provide free treatment and other health services at all government hospitals in Maharashtra was taken by the state cabinet in its meeting on August 3.

KEC International bags orders worth Rs 1,007 cr including hospital contract

Engineering firm KEC International has bagged new orders worth Rs 1,007 crore, including for construction of a multi-speciality hospital. Its civil business vertical secured an order for design, engineering, procurement and construction of a multi-speciality hospital in eastern India, the company said in a regulatory filing on Friday. The company's transmission and distribution business secured an order for a 380 kV overhead transmission line project in the Middle East. The cables business bagged orders from within the country and abroad. "KEC International Ltd, an RPG Group company, has secured new orders of Rs 1,007 crore across its various businesses," the filing said. "With these orders, our YTD (Year To Date) order intake stands at a record of over Rs 5,500 crore, registering a strong growth of 15 per cent from last year," Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEC International, said.

Corporate hospitals to see 8-10% revenue growth in FY24: ICRA Ratings

Corporate hospitals are set to clock an 8-10 per cent revenue growth and strong margins in the current fiscal, ICRA Ratings said in a report on Thursday. The rating agency maintained a stable outlook for the sector, saying the improving operating leverage, coupled with continued cost optimisation and digitisation measures, are expected to support a healthy operating margins of 22-23 per cent in 2023-24 (FY24). The report is based on the agency's sample of nine listed hospital chains -- Apollo Hospitals, Aster DM Healthcare, Fortis Healthcare, Healthcare Global Enterprises, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Max Healthcare, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Rainbow Children's Medicare and Shalby Hospital. Wockhardt loss widens to Rs 136 cr in Q1 due to higher expenses

Pharmaceutical firm Wockhardt Ltd on Monday said its consolidated loss after tax widened to Rs 136 crore in the June quarter due to higher expenses. The company had posted a consolidated loss after tax of Rs 75 crore in the year-ago period, Wockhardt Ltd said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 644 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal as compared to Rs 595 crore a year ago, it added. Total expenses were higher at Rs 762 crore as against Rs 748 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago, the company said.

After 18 deaths in 24 hrs, non-serious patients shifted from Thane hospital

In the wake of the death of 18 patients in 24 hours at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital at Kalwa in Thane, authorities have started shifting other patients, who are not in a serious condition and new admissions, to the Civil Hospital located nearby if they are willing to be relocated, officials said on Monday. Thane's Additional Municipal Commissioner (in-charge of health services) Sandeep Malvi said in the 24-hour period ending on Monday morning, three patients died at the civic-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (CSM) Hospital, while one patient was brought dead. The number of deaths at the Kalwa-based hospital has come down in the last 24 hours and the details are being compiled and analysed, he said. Fire at hospital in Ahmedabad, 100 patients evacuated, say officials

A fire broke out in the basement of a multi-storey hospital in Gujarat's Ahmedabad city on Sunday, following which around 100 patients were evacuated from the facility as a precautionary measure, officials said. As per preliminary information, the fire broke out at around 4.30 am in the basement of Rajasthan Hospital, located in city's Sahibaug area, an official from Sahibaug police station said. "Fire fighting teams are working to control the blaze. Smoke continues to emerge from the basement of the hospital where the fire broke out," police inspector MD Champavat said. "Nearly 100 patients have been evacuated from the multi-storey building as a precautionary measure," he added. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Hospital employees arrested for referring patients to private labs

As many as 11 persons including a few employees of the Tata Memorial Hospital in the city have been arrested for allegedly referring cancer patients to private laboratories for commission, police said on Wednesday. The hospital, which comes under the purview of the Department of Atomic Energy, is known for advanced cancer treatment and research and gets patients from across the country. Some employees asked the patients to get diagnostic scans done at private imaging centres and laboratories, telling them that there was a long waiting period for scans in the hospital, said a police official. The accused included an assistant administrative officer, wardboy, aaya, servant and cleaning staff. They allegedly received commission from the private labs whose rates are higher than those at the hospital, the official said. Patients being shifted from trauma centre in north Delhi to LNJP Hospital

As water began to enter the premises of a Delhi government-run trauma centre in north Delhi, authorities began shifting about 40 patients to the LNJP Hospital on Thursday. Three ICU were among those being shifted from the Sushruta Trauma Centre located opposite Chandiram Akhada in north Delhi, a senior official said. "The main gate of the trauma centre has got flooded as water has entered its premises," another official said.
