CRPF trooper killed in C'garh Naxal encounter cremated in MP

A Central Reserve Police Force trooper who was killed in an encounter with Naxals in neighbouring Chhattisgarh was Saturday cremated with full state honours here. CRPF head constable Harish Chand (45) was killed in a firefight with Naxals in a forest near Chameda village in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district on Friday. Chand's daughter Shlesha (12) lit the funeral pyre in the Subhash Nagar crematorium amid slogans of "Bharat Mata ki jai" and "Shaheed Harish Chand amar rahe". Among those who laid wreaths were Madhya Pradesh minister PC Sharma, former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bhopal Lok Sabha MP Alok Sanjar. Hundreds of CRPF and police personnel also paid their tributes to the departed trooper. Earlier, his body was taken in a flower-bedecked truck to his residence in the city's Avadhpuri area after it was brought by train to Habibganj railway station.

Relation between India & Arab League states has improved:

Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla Saturday said "relationship between India and Arab League states has greatly improved with more socio-economic activities and investment. She told PTI that Arab countries also support India's stand against terrorism. Heptulla was on Friday given an award by the Secretary General of Arab League HE Ahmed for her "outstanding achievements" in her long professional career. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also recently conferred with Highest Civilian Award by United Arab Emirates which clearly shows that the relationship have greatly improved.

Bangladeshi man held with USD 70,000 in cash at Kolkata airport

A Bangladeshi man was apprehended on Saturday by the CISF at the airport here for allegedly carrying unaccounted USD 70,000 in cash, a senior official said. He said Abdul Sobhan (37) was carrying the foreign currency, equivalent to about Rs 47.42 lakh, by placing it inside a false cavity in his bag. Eight bundles totalling USD 70,000 were found from the man, a Bangladesh national, who was supposed to take a flight to Dhaka from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, he said. As the man could not furnish any reason for carrying the cash, he was handed over by the CISF personnel to Customs authorities.

Junaid Ahmed, one of the toppers of UPSC exam, said Friday that now he will be able to solve people's problems directly. Ahmed was staying in Jamia's Residential Coaching Academy in 2016 till last year when he got chosen for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). He was in an academy in Faridabad for his IRS training when he got the news on Friday about emerging as the third topper in the UPSC exam. "In IRS, one deals with taxation and that is also related to people but an IAS officer can solve people's problems directly. More than an achievement, it is a responsibility," he told PTI. 4,700 Konyak Naga women dance together to set world record

Around 4,700 Konyak Naga women in their colourful traditional attire came together on Friday in an attempt to set a Guiness World Record for the "Largest Traditional Konyak Dance". In their attempt, Konyak people danced to the beats of traditional instruments and sang a ceremonial song for five minutes and one second, the organisers said here. Konyak is one of the 16 Naga tribes and people of this community live mainly in the Mon district of Nagaland. The programme was organised at Mon during the Aoleang Monyu festival of the Konyak tribe, held between April 1 and 3 every year to welcome the spring.
