Tripura govt signs two skill development MoUs with IIT Delhi, Tata IIS

To enhance skill development of youth with emerging industry demands, the Tripura government has signed two MoUs with IIT Delhi and Tata IIS, an official said on Sunday. These partnerships aim to train a total of 1,000 candidates in cutting-edge job roles aligned with emerging industry demands, thereby boosting local employment and reducing outmigration. "The first MoU, signed with IIT Delhi, will train 500 candidates in five futuristic job rolesArtificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and 5G technologies. These programmes will be implemented in collaboration with NIELIT Agartala, Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), and other government institutions in the state," Director of Skill Development, Pradeep K told PTI. Civil Aviation Ministry reports 10 emergency landings since Jan 2024

The Civil Aviation Ministry on Monday said 10 incidents of emergency landings of aircraft due to technical snags have been reported since January 2024. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol also said 171 regulatory audits have been conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) from 2020 till June 2025. Replying to a question, Mohol said that two incidents of turbulence and 10 incidents of emergency landings due to technical snags have been reported since January 2024. "In addition to the above, on 12.06.2025, Air India aircraft VT-ANB declared MAYDAY and eventually met with an accident," he added. A total of 260 people died in the crash of Air India's plane, which was operating the flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick on June 12. AI transforming meteorological prediction through innovation: IIT Delhi

Artificial intelligence is transforming meteorological prediction through innovative approaches to tropical cyclone tracking and monsoon forecasting, two recent studies by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, researchers have demonstrated. The studies conducted under Professors Sandeep Sukumaran and Hairprasad Kodamana, have been published in the "Journal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation". The first study achieved significant advances in monsoon prediction through the application of transformer neural networks. The research team trained their model on a quarter-century of high-resolution satellite precipitation data, enabling the system to accurately forecast monsoon intraseasonal oscillation patterns with an 18-day lead time. QS World University Rankings 2026 ranks IIT Delhi as top Indian institution

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi is the best-ranked Indian institution in QS World University Rankings for 2026 by climbing up to the 123rd spot with a record 54 universities and institutions from the country making it to the coveted list. IIT Delhi has climbed more than 70 places in two years, ranking 123rd this year compared with 197 and 150 in previous two years. This has been down to outstanding results in Employer Reputation (where it now ranks 50th), Citations (86th), Sustainability (172nd), and Academic Reputation (142nd). IIT Delhi has jointly bagged the rank alongside Georgia Institute of Technology, US. While IIT Bombay slipped to 129th this year from its all-time best rank of 118 in 2025, it remains in the global top 130 and continues to score highly on Employer Reputation, ranking 39th in that indicator. DRDO, IIT-Delhi demonstrate experimental progress in quantum communication

India has successfully demonstrated an experimental advancement in quantum communication domain that paves the way for real-time applications in quantum cyber security, according to the defence ministry. "The free-space quantum secure communication using quantum entanglement over a distance of more than one km was achieved via a free-space optical link established on the IIT-Delhi campus," it said in a statement on Monday. With this, India has entered a "new quantum era", officials said. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the DRDO and IIT-Delhi for this landmark achievement, stating that India entered a new quantum era of secure communication which will be a "game-changer" in future warfare. IIT Delhi, IISc make mark in QS Rankings for sustainability and environment

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi is at top among universities in India for sustainability, climbing the table by 255 places to reach 171 globally, according to QS Rankings announced on Tuesday. A total of 78 Indian universities have featured in the 2025 QS Sustainability rankings, with nine of the top 10 institutions in the country improving their ranking this year and 21 new institutions making an entry. IIT-Delhi and IIT-Kanpur have been ranked among the world's top 100 for environmental impact. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has been ranked among world's top 50 for environment education.
