European Tour 2025: India A suffers 3-2 defeat to England in hockey

The India 'A' men's hockey team suffered its second consecutive defeat on the European tour, going down 2-3 to England in a closely-contested match here on Tuesday. Despite young Indian forwards Maninder Singh and Uttam Singh scoring for India 'A' at the Wagener Stadion, India lost the match to world number 5 England after a close competition. After the match India 'A' Coach Shivendra Singh said, "We initially had three really good wins on this tour, and now two really close losses. We knew that as the tour progressed, we would face tougher competition and teams. "We are now taking each game as it comes and learning from it as we progress. We still have three games left against two really good teams, and are now looking forward to playing those." The India 'A' men's team will now head to Antwerpen to play against Belgium Thursday. They will then head to Eindhoven for their final two matches against the Netherlands on July 18 and July 20.

We need better time, game management: India women's hockey coach Harendra

Under-fire Indian women's hockey team chief coach Harendra Singh on Wednesday said his side need to work on time and game management to be a force to reckon with, areas that spoiled their FIH Pro League campaign this year. India lost seven matches out of eight in the European leg of the Pro League to finish at the bottom and were relegated to the FIH Nation's Cup. In the remaining match, India drew 2-2 with Argentina in the regulation time but lost in the penalty shootout. "It's a new team with several experienced players missing due to injuries, defence in particular. What we need to work on is time management and game management," Harendra said in a virtual interaction. "To work on that area we need to create scenarios and read the game. Like fielding inexperienced players in the defence and than observe where they stand. If they fail we will have to depend on seniors," he said. "There is no excuse on that part." India A men's hockey team thrash Ireland 6-1 to start European tour

The Indian A men's hockey team produced a dominant performance to outclass Ireland 6-1, making a rollicking start to its European tour at the Hockey Club Oranje-Rood here. Uttam Singh, Amandeep Lakra, Aditya Lalage, Selvam Karthi, and Boby Singh Dhami were the scorers for India in a comprehensive victory Tuesday night. India completely dominated throughout the four quarters and hardly put a foot wrong. Uttam opened the scoring and Amandeep later extended the Indian team's lead. This was followed by a impressive brace by Aditya as he scored back-to-back goals. Forwards Selvam Karthi and Boby Singh Dhami too scored a goal each to feature on the scoresheet. Ireland could only manage to score a consolation goal as India ensured they are tight with their defending. India will next face Ireland again Wednesday night. They will later play against France, England, Belgium and hosts The Netherlands over the course of the next two weeks.
