A security personnel was killed and another two suffered injuries in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Thursday, official sources said. The troops were patrolling the forward area in Nowshera sector when the explosion occurred, the sources said. The three security personnel were admitted to a hospital, they said, adding one of them succumbed to injuries. In another landmine blast, a goat was injured in Poonch district's Mendhar sector, they said.

BSF carries out search op after reports of suspicious tunnel in J-K's Samba

The Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Thursday carried out a search operation following reports of a suspicious tunnel near the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, but found nothing, officials said. Based on inputs, the operation took place in Jaraie village of Lalacheck border area, the officials said. After a few hours of digging near a deep pit, no tunnel was discovered, they said. A senior BSF officer dismissed the rumors, and told PTI, "There is no tunnel. It is a pit. There is nothing to worry about." Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Benam Tosh, also refuted claims of tunnels in the area, clarifying that it is just a hole. "All agencies have carried out thorough checking, and no tunnel was found," he said. 6,000 security personnel died in militancy-related incidents in J&K: DGP

Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain on Tuesday said that about 6,000 security personnel have died in the line of duty in militancy-related incidents, of which over 1,600 of them are from the J&K Police. This shows the J&K Police's commitment to protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country, Sawin said. Suspected terrorists fire upon Army vehicles in J&K; no one injured

Suspected terrorists fired upon a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening, prompting security forces to launch a search operation, officials said. No security personnel was injured in the attack, they said. "At around 1800h today, a Security Forces convoy of vehicles was fired upon by suspected terrorists from a jungle near Krishna Ghati, Poonch sector. No casualties to own troops. Joint search operations by Indian Army and JKP (Jammu and Kashmir Police) are in progress," the White Night Corps of the Army posted on X. The vehicles that came under attack were carrying security personnel back to the camp, the officials said. J-K admin imposes night curfew along international border in Samba

Night curfew has been imposed along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district to ensure better area domination by BSF troops and to foil any nefarious activities close to the borderline, according to an official order. The step was taken to prevent cross-border infiltration and smuggling of weapons through drones in the extreme foggy weather conditions prevailing along the Indo-Pak border line, said the order issued by District Magistrate Abhishek Sharma on Sunday. According to the order, the movement of civilians has been stopped from from 9 pm to 6 am in one kilometre-long strip from the IB in Samba district. No person or group of persons shall move in the area up to one kilometre along the International Border in district Samba from 2100 hours to 0600 hour during the night, the DM said in the order and invoked Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code to impose a night curfew along the IB. Anti-terrorist search operation in J-K's Poonch along LoC enters second day

An anti-terrorist search operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district entered the second day on Saturday, officials said. The operation was launched in nearly a dozen forward villages in the forest area of Mankote and Mendhar on Friday following reports of suspicious movement, they said. Intermittent gunfire was reported from Uchhad forest but it was later clarified that security forces had opened fire while clearing a natural cave, the officials said. Encounter breaks out between security forces, terrorists in J&K's Shopian

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday, police said. Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Chotigam area of the south Kashmir district, the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation there early in the morning, a police official said. Suspicious object detected, destroyed on Srinagar-Baramulla road in J-K

Security forces averted a major tragedy on Wednesday with the timely detection of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. Traffic on Srinagar-Baramulla road was suspended temporarily after a gas cylinder was detected by the roadside at Lawaypora on the busy highway during routine patrolling by security forces in the morning, they said. A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot which destroyed the suspected IED through a controlled explosion without causing any damage, they said. The traffic has been restored on the road.

Five soldiers were killed and two injured when heavily-armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Thursday, officials said. The bodies of two of the slain soldiers were mutilated, they said.
