CM Bommai inaugurates Parashuram theme park in Karnataka's Karkala

The Parashuram theme park, with a 33 feet bronze statue of Lord Parashuram, was inaugurated atop Umikal hill at Bailur in Karnataka's Udupi district by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Speaking after the inauguration on Friday evening in Karkala taluk, the Chief Minister said a master plan will be drawn to promote culture and temple tourism in coastal Karnataka. Bommai said the coastal region has immense potential for attracting tourists and the government is chalking out a number of schemes to promote tourism. The government aims to bring in overall development in the region by developing ports and roads. The government does not want to offer promises on packages, but is trying to improve the lives of the people, he said. Home Minister Shah to visit Karnataka on Jan 28 to attend various events

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be arriving in poll bound Karnataka's Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi on January 28 to attend various events and take part in a road show organised by the BJP. The visit to what is known as Kittur-Karnataka (Mumbai-Karnataka) region, where BJP is considerably strong, is the second such by Shah to the state within a month. The Congress on Wednesday accused the ruling BJP in Karnataka of attempting to 'cover up' the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment scam in which already an ADGP rank officer has been arrested. The grand old party said the prime accused in the case, R D Patil has written to the Lokayukta alleging that the investigating officer of the scam had demanded Rs three crore to shut the case and already Rs 76 lakh has been paid. Congress woos women voters with cash transfers in poll-bound Karnataka

The Congress is sharply focusing on women voters promising cash transfers and separate manifesto months ahead of Assembly elections in Karnataka as it aims to wrest power from the BJP. Seeking to raise the pitch, women aspirants have also been pushing for allotment of at least 15 per cent of the tickets. The Congress has announced that Rs 2,000 would be credited to the account of woman head of households every month if it's voted to power. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said the 14th edition of Aero India that would be held in Bengaluru from February 13-17, will be the "biggest airshow" with highest participation.
