Man killed in cold blood near Hyderabad, revenge suspected

A 23-year-old man has been brutally murdered in a suspected revenge killing in Malkajgiri area near Hyderabad, police said on Sunday.The victim identified as Prasad, a resident of Uppal area of Hyderabad, was found dead at Ramanthapur bypass road, the police said.He is suspected to have been killed by his friends with stones and sticks during an altercation after they consumed liquor."There were some clashes among the victim and the suspects for the last one year. The murder looks like a revenge killing," Uppal police station circle inspector Venkateshwarlu said.A case under section 302 and 123 of the Indian Penal Code was registered and an autopsy was carried out.The police said that special teams have been formed to nab the accused.Further investigation is on.

Jalandhar: Minor raped, man beaten to death for it

One person accused of raping a minor girl was beaten to death here on Sunday by a mob which gathered at the spot, police said.Harsimrat Singh, ACP Jalandhar (Central) said, "We received information that an 11-year-old girl was raped by a man in Rama Mandi area and the accused had already been beaten up by a mob before we reached the spot, he later died.""A large number of people were gathered at the incident spot. The place was photographed. The accused wasn't conscious when police rescued him. He was sent to hospital but did not survive", Singh added.The accused was identified as 39-year-old, Pappu Kumar Rai, hailing from Bihar.The girl who was raped is admitted in hospital and is undergoing treatment.Police have registered an FIR for rape under IPC section 376 and POSCO act. Police, however, said that no case has been registered so far by the relatives of the man who was beaten to death.

Rajasthan: Telangana police attacked in Bhilwara

A team of Telangana police was attacked by some villagers here while attempting to nab an accused from a village of the district.According to information, the Telangana police team was in the district on Sunday to nab an accused miscreant and while it was conducting searches in Baratia village of Gulabpur region, it was attacked by some villagers.One Sub-Inspector, Shivkumar and three constables were injured in the attack. The seriously injured SI was referred to Bhilwara hospital, while the constables suffered minor injuries.Gulabpura police have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC including one for obstructing government work and is searching for the accused.

Former CJI duped of Rs 1 Lakh by online fraudsters

New Delhi [India], Jun 3 (ANI): Former Chief Justice of India (CJI) R M Lodha was duped of Rs one Lakh by online fraudsters who allegedly hacked the email account of his friend and ex-colleague, police said on Sunday.According to a complaint lodged at South Delhi's Malviya Nagar police station, Justice Lodha (Retd) said he received a mail from the mail ID of his ex-colleague Justice B P Singh on the night of May 19. Lodha said that he and Singh had communicated several times on the same mail ID.In his FIR, Lodha stated, "I was requested for some urgent help and get back to him via email as he was unavailable over the phone. I saw the above email at around 3.30 am and responded via email. At 3.51 am, I received another email stating therein that his cousin was suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and they were short of funds. J-K: Six arrested for bovine smuggling

Six alleged bovine smugglers were arrested and 38 cattle recused in separate incidents from Reasi and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said. A police party in Mahore and Chasana areas of Reasi intercepted some persons who were smuggling bovines to Kashmir, they said. Naseem Mohammad, Qadar and Kaka Hussain were arrested and 25 bovines were rescued, they added. A case was registered at Police Station Mahore and investigation taken up, they said. In a separate incident, three vehicles carrying bovines to Kashmir were intercepted in Surankote and Behramgalla. Three persons-- Imran Khan, Mohd Bashir and Abid Amin-- were arrested and 13 cattle were rescued, they said.

AP: Boy drowns at Manginapudi beach

A 16-year-old boy allegedly drowned while bathing at the Manginapudi beach in Krishna district near here on Sunday, police said. Two women relatives of the deceased were rescued by the locals, they said. L Avinash, a resident of Vijayawada city, was studying in class 10 and had gone to the beach along with seven members of his family in the evening, said Machilipatnam (rural) sub-inspector M P S S Ranganath. The body was sent to district government hospital for post-mortem, he said, adding that the condition of the rescued women was stable.

Three held after encounter in southeast Delhi

Three suspected criminals were arrested after an encounter with police at southeast Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin area on Sunday afternoon, an officer said. The bike-borne men were stopped by a police team at the Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and one of them fired three rounds while trying to escape. He was shot in the leg in retaliatory firing and has been admitted to a hospital, police said. The team overpowered the other two after a brief chase, they said, adding that the arrested have been identified as Faizan (22), Salmaan (22) and Shuaib (21). The team was deployed on the carriageway from Moolchand to Lodhi Road of Lala Lajpat Rai Marg following a tip-off, police said. An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 39-year-old migrant labourer, who was later caught by the locals and beaten to death here on Sunday.The incident occurred in Dinesh Nagar area under Ramamandi Police Station limits.The victim allegedly hails from Nepal and is undergoing treatment at a city hospital, while the accused hailed from Bihar. Minor girl's 'rapist' beaten to death by mob in Jalandhar: police

The alleged rapist of a nine-year-old girl was beaten to death by a mob in Jalandhar on Sunday, said police. Police said 39-year-old Pappu Kumar, who worked as a migrant labourer, was caught raping the girl in Rama Mandi area of Jalandhar on Sunday. He lived close to the girl's house, lured the victim to his house and raped her, the police added. The girl's parents are also migrant labourers. When the area residents heard the girl screaming, they rushed there and found Kumar raping her. "The mob soon gathered at the spot and Kumar was beaten with whatever people could lay their hands on. When the police came to know about the incident, he was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead," Jalandhar's Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central) Harsimrat Singh said over the phone. The 63-year-old former madrassa teacher, arrested for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy, was on Sunday remanded to the judicial custody.The accused Yusuf was a madrassa teacher at Thalayolaparambu in Kottayam district when he assaulted the kid. 21 foreign nationals held for overstaying in Bengaluru

As many as 21 foreign nationals from various African countries were Sunday arrested here on charges of overstaying, police said. They were detained following a special drive to identify those overstaying after expiry of their visas, they said. Most of the foreigners from Nigeria, Congo, Uganda, Ivory Coast and Tanzania were allegedly involved in illegal activities, they added. Navy personnel allegedly killed by wife

A man working at the Indian Navy's base at Vasco in Goa was allegedly killed by his wife Saturday night, police said. Kulshetra Singh, the deceased, worked as an aircraft handler at INS Hansa, said Vasco Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant. Singh allegedly used to beat his wife, and he did so Saturday night too, Sawant said. After he went to sleep, his wife allegedly hammered him on the head with some heavy kitchen implement.
