The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a woman from Moradabad, accused of running away with the belongings of men, intending to marry her - on the first day of their 'marriage'.Her con gang included her master mind husband, who would make all the wedding arrangements and search for new targets as well as plan to co-ordinate.The accused would first wed the victim grooms and then rob them off their valuables like jewellery and cash.The con bride took the idea to become rich from Bollywood movie 'Dolly Ki Dolly' featuring actress Sonam Kapoor.A native of Uttarakhand's Dehradun, Preeti has duped at least 12 men till now.Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Uday Shankar said, "We had been searching for her from past few days. Many people refused to file any complaint due to their respect in the society. The police have arrested Preeti and her husband. We are also looking for other people of her gang.
A 62-year-old Norwegian man has been arrested in Russia on suspicion of espionage, local media reported Tuesday.
Thieves allegedly decamped with valuables and cash from a bank in outer Delhi's Mundka, the police said today. The incident came to light yesterday when the bank opened. The burglary happened at the Delhi State Cooperative Bank, they added. The accused used cutters to break the lockers and enter the bank. The CCTV cameras were also broken. Police suspect that the burglary was carried out after a thorough recce.
A special CBI court here today ordered that cases be registered against three students of a private university in connection with the death of a first- year student, who drowned in a swimming pool on the campus. Justin Xavier, a resident of Kerala, drowned in the Amity University's pool on September 3, 2009. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. The CBI had submitted two closure reports in the court earlier. However, today, CBI Special Judge Chetna Singh taking cognisance of the matter ordered authorities to file cases against Jatin Kulkarni, Shashank and another student. Though the post-mortem report had said that Justin had died of injuries, his father moved the Kerala Hight Court, appealing the case be investigated by the CBI.

Two history-sheeters who were arrested in connection with the murder of Vaibhav Tiwari, son of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Prem Prakash Tiwari, have been sent to three days police remand today.The duo, identified as Suraj Shukla and Vikram, allegedly shot Tiwari outside his apartment on Saturday night.They fled the spot and Tiwari was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Kumar on Saturday announced Rs. 20,000 bounty on each of the accused.The police also recovered Rs. 30 lakh cash from Shukla's residence.According to reports, Shukla and Tiwari were close aides but had a scuffle due to internal disputes.
An NIA court here today sent British national Jagtar Singh Johal, an accused in murder case of a Hindu outfit leader in 2016, to police remand for three days. Johal, alias Jaggi, 30, was produced in the NIA court under tight security. The NIA counsel requested the court to grant Johal's police remand for at least 14 days. Objecting to the request, the defence counsel said the investigating agency or the police have only made allegations against his client and that they have no evidence of Johal's involvement in the killing of Durga Dass Gupta in Khanna area. Gupta was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants in April 2016. The defence counsel said his client has been in police custody for the past 45 days. Earlier, Johal, who was arrested on November 4, was in the custody of the Khanna police. Johal and four others were arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with targeted killing cases last month. Five incidents of targeted killings had taken place between April .
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked a 15-year-old girl to clearly state whether she wanted to terminate her over 26-week pregnancy, from an alleged marriage to a man she had eloped with.
A college principal in Noida has claimed that he was robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh by a car seller in Rajasthan's Bharatpur, the police said today. According to the complainant, Pushpinder Singh, the alleged incident took place on December 13, when he had gone to Bharatpur to buy a car after seeing its advertisement on a website. "The seller of the car asked me to come and fix a deal where he took me to a secluded place and robbed Rs 2.5 lakh," Singh claimed. "I have emailed a complaint to the concerned SHO and SSP of Bharatpur," he said. However, there was no official word from the police whether the complaint was recieved.
The Delhi High Court today asked a 15-year-old pregnant girl to "unambiguously" state whether she consents to terminate her foetus as she has changed her stand on the matter several times. The court said, before passing any order, it wanted to be sure that the girl, who today told the judges she wanted to abort her pregnancy, will not change her mind again. A bench of justices S Muralidhar and I S Mehta noted that the girl, who had left her house and married a man on her free will, changed her mind thrice between December 8, when she appeared before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and December 13, when she had gone for her medical examination to AIIMS, and again today while appearing before the court. Two suspected criminals were allegedly killed in Kharbi area of the city today in what appears to be the case of a gang rivalry, police said. Police initially received a call that three persons were injured in an accident in the area in the early hours today, an official said. After police reached the spot and rushed all of them to the government hospital, doctors there declared two of them as brought dead, Nandanvan police station sub-inspector Mahendra Singh Thakur said. However, when police scanned the CCTV footage of Kharbi area, they realised that the trio were attacked by unidentified persons with iron rods. The deceased were identified as Sanjay Banode and Badal Shambharkar while the injured man as Rajesh Yadav. Thakur said Banode and Shambharkar had a number of criminal cases against them. A transporter has allegedly got a death threat from a criminal who demanded him to pay an extortion money of Rs 2 lakh, the police said today. Babli Sharma, who runs a transport business in Kherli area of Greater Noida, alleged that a person entered his office last evening and demanded Rs 2 lakh. The person allegedly threatened to kill Sharma if he fails to pay the amount, the police said, adding that an FIR has been lodged against the accused, who is said to be a history-sheeter.
Two women were allegedly harassed by two men riding a motorcycle outside a five-star hotel in Lutyens' Delhi, following which one of the accused was arrested, police said today. The incident was reported in the evening of December 14. The two women from West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh had come out of the hotel when the two started harassing them and made lewd remarks. The women are in their late 20s. "Two men on a motorcycle came near the main gate of the five-star hotel on Ashoka Road and tried to misbehave with them. In the meantime, a police patrol vehicle came and overpowered one of them while the other managed to escape," said B K Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi). The arrested accused, 28, is a resident of Sadar Bazar, he added. The DCP said that they have identified the second accused and efforts were being made to nab him.

A man was shot dead by unidentified persons in busy Sakchi locality here this evening, police said. The victim identified as Niranjan Singh, a resident of Jugsalai area here, was sitting on his motorcycle when an unidentified person shot at him, police said. Singh was rushed to nearby hospital but the doctors declared him dead, sources said. Superintendent of Police (City) Prabhat Kumar rushed to the spot to investigate the incident. Police has procured footage of the incident from CCTV cameras and has launched a hunt to apprehend the culprit.
Kolkata Police has initiated a search for a young woman, who has been allegedly missing from her paying guest accommodation in the city since December 10. The 19-year-old woman, a resident of Ghatshila in Jharkhand, had come to the city to pursue studies and was staying in Kalighat area, a senior police officer said today. The search was initiated after the woman's family lodged a complaint with the Kalighat Police Station. "The mobile phone tower location of the woman showed her last location at Esplanade. After that, the phone was switched off," the officer said. Family members of the woman have alleged that she had been receiving "threat calls" from unknown persons, he said.
The finance ministry has directed all duty free shops at international airports to display price of items only in rupees and accept card payments in the Indian currency (INR). Prevailing exchange rate will be applicable if purchases are made in foreign currency, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) said in a circular. Currently, price of goods sold at duty free shops at international passenger terminals are displayed in US dollars and the forex conversion charges are borne by the passengers along with transaction fee and other levies. "It has been decided to extend the facility of payments in Indian rupees, through INR debit cards or credit cards at duty free shops, without any need for conversion of foreign currency into Indian Rupees," the circular said. In order to ensure effective implementation of the new norms, it said, the duty free shops "shall henceforth, mandatorily display the price of all goods on sale in Indian rupees only".
