A 20-year-old college student from Andhra Pradesh was Wednesday arrested here for posting a video on'TikTok' app, in which he is seen "abusing and defaming" Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the people of the state, police said. The accused had on April 14 logged into TikTok app and uploaded the video with "highly derogatory" remarks against Rao and the people of Telangana, which has gone viral, they said. The Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has sentenced a city-based builder to three years imprisonment for failing to comply with an earlier order directing him to hand over possession of a flat to the buyer. As per the commission's bench, presided by its president, retired judge A P Bhangale, and member S K Kakade, SD Constructions' owner Shekhar Dadarkar deliberately disobeyed its 2016 order by which his firm was directed to deliver possession of the flat to buyer Arun Kejriwal within a period of three months. The panel noted that while the complainant (Kejriwal) paid the balance amount, the builder (Dadarkar) failed to abide by the final order. The commission, in its order passed on April 18, said, "Dadarkar shall be taken into custody for imprisonment...if the accused complies with the final order of this panel passed on September 20, 2016, he shall be released from jail." Nine suspected drug peddlers were arrested with a huge cache of narcotics and cash in Udhampur, Jammu and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Wednesday. Two Punjab residents, Jagdev Singh of Ludhiana and Balkar Singh of Jalandhar, were arrested after the recovery of 203 kg poppy straw from their vehicle at Chenani on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district, a police spokesman said. At Main Bazzar, Udhampur, the official said they recovered 15 gm of heroin from two persons, identified as Niklesh and Vikas Thakur. A police sub-inspector (SI) in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district was suspended allegedly for bigamy, a senior official said Wednesday. The SI, Lavik Tyagi, posted at Thana Bhawan, was suspended Tuesday, the official said. According to SP Ajay Kumar Pandey, the action was taken after Tyagi's second wife submitted a complaint in this regard. A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting a 22-year-old woman dead after she refused to marry him in Bahupura village here, police said. The accused, identified as Amit Kumar, allegedly killed the woman, Suviti, on Monday, Bhop Station House Officer MS Gill said. "Kumar had threatened the woman with dire consequences after she rejected his marriage proposal," the SHO said. A car driver was shot dead by some unidentified men near Alem in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said Wednesday. The incident took place Tuesday and the assailants also took away the car with them, they said. The car driver, identified as Tika Ram, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, Station House Officer, Kandhla, DK Tyagi said. The Supreme Court Wednesday directed the CBI, IB and Delhi Police chiefs to appear before it and meet in chambers the judges hearing a lawyer's claims of a larger conspiracy to frame CJI Ranjan Gogoi on allegations of sexual harassment. Angry over his transfer to another facility, Reddy, while being escorted to a vehicle, ran towards the jail superintendent's cabin and smashed its glass door, he said. The Delhi Police Wednesday arrested Rohit Shekhar Tiwari's wife Apoorva for allegedly killing him last week, said a senior police officer. The officer said the couple apparently did not have a happy marriage and had frequent fights. Rohit Shekhar was allegedly smothered to death on April 16. Apoorva was being questioned from Sunday last in connection with the killing. Discrepancies were found in her statements which led police to suspect her involvement.
