A married woman was allegedly raped by a Swaminarayan sect priest in a moving car at knife point in Junagadh in Gujarat, police said Monday. The accused Swami Anandswarup Dasji allegedly called the woman to meet him under the pretext of helping her to resolve a dispute with her husband, and raped her at knife point in the car on February 18, said a police official from Junagadh, around 320 kms from here. Dasji allegedly threatened the woman, who is in her 30s, to abduct her daughter if she approached police, he said. Three men were arrested Monday in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly committing a series of crimes, including rape, over the last eight days in Jabalpur and Katni districts, police said. The trio, identified as Mahendra Patel (23), Suraj Dumar (21) and Raju Thapa (25) were picked up from Khamaria area of Jabalpur, said district superintendent of police Amit Singh. He said the trio are habitual offenders. "On the night of February 14, they burgled into a locked house of a retired Army officer in Priyadarshani Colony in Jabalpur and decamped with an LCD television set, three cooking gas cylinders and jewellery," he said, adding that they fled in the car of the officer. Four men, who allegedly abducted their landlord and smothered him with a pillow after soliciting a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his family, have been arrested in Greater Noida, police said Monday. They were held on Sunday evening near Jalpura village in Greater Noida, they said. The main accused was peeved over repeated demands from his landlord for a pending rent of Rs 50,000 and had therefore planned the killing with his aides - all of them living as tenants in Aimnabad village, according to the police. A special court here on Monday framed charges against two alleged associates of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case. The two accused, Yasin Mansoor Mohammed Farooq alias Farooq Takla, and Ahmed Kamal Sheikh alias Lambu, have been charged under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, also known as TADA, as well as various sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy and murder. According to the prosecution, the duo were close aides of prime accused Dawood Ibrahim and had attended meetings where the conspiracy to carry out the blasts was hatched. The special TADA court has posted the matter for further hearing next Thursday. Farooq was arrested in Dubai last March and deported, while Sheikh was arrested in Ahmedabad last June. A currency trader in possession of Rs 5.5 lakh unaccounted cash was arrested at a railway platform in Rajasthan's Ajmer district, an official said Monday. The trader, Prem Kumar Totlani (45), was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday with Rs 5.5 lakh in cash before he could board a train to Bhopal, SHO, Ajmer GRP station, Ramavtar said. Totlani could not produce any document related to the cash and was held under section 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) which allows an arrest to prevent a cognizable offence, the SHO added.
