The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has installed 85 electric vehicle charging stations at 82 locations and 92 more such facilities are to be set up by December, officials said on Friday. The Government of India is promoting EVs adoption in India and has recently announced its target to reach 25 per cent EV adoption by 2030, the MCD said in a statement. Several state governments are also working towards accelerating EV adoption in their respective states, it added. "The MCD has installed 85 EV charging stations at 82 locations and all 85 EV charging stations have become operational for the public usage," the MCD said. Officials said 92 more such facilities are to be set up by December. The MCD has been taking necessary steps to create an optimal EV ecosystem in the city, it said. MCD on Friday said it has registered about 1,100 pet dogs since April 1, an exercise that began to check rising incidents of dog-bite. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had on September 11 asked residents to get their pets registered in view of "rising incidents of dog-bite" in the national capital region, and warned that action could be taken for non-compliance of the norm. "About 1,100 pet dogs have been registered from April till now," a senior official said. Under the section 399 of Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act, 1957, it is mandatory to register all pet dogs with the municipal corporation. The section also gives power to the MCD to detain a pet dog found in a public place, if it is not registered with it, the civic body had earlier said. Dog-bite cases have been reported in the last few days in Noida, Ghaziabad, and other parts of the region. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Friday said it had conducted a "massive demolition drive" against unauthorise constructions in its south zone this year. The civic body, in a statement said, it will "intensify the demolition drive". The south zone has conducted a "massive demolition and sealing action drive" in different areas between January 1 and August 18 this year. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has extended the last date for filing property tax for 2022-2023 for availing rebate of 15 per cent to July 15, officials said on Friday. Previously, the last date was June 30. MCD provides a rebate of 15 per cent in property tax if the amount due for current financial year is paid in lump sum. "MCD has taken this decision to provide relief to citizens who failed to avail this rebate by not filing their property tax till June 30 due to some reasons.
