Maha CM lays foundation of Metro Line-12 in Mumbai metropolitan region

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday laid the foundation of the Metro Line 12 which will connect Kalyan with Taloja in Navi Mumbai, stating it will bring in a new wave of development in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The upcoming metro line is an extension of Metro Line-5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) which will play a crucial role in improving the connectivity in MMR and extending the Metro network. Metro Line 12 incorporates a completely elevated structure with 19 stations along the 22.173 km route. The estimated cost of this project, expected to be completed by end-2027, is around Rs 5,865 crore, as per an official release. "Metro Line 12 aspires to bring innumerable benefits to the residents of MMR as it will substantially elevate connectivity between Kalyan and Taloja (Navi Mumbai). Delhi Metro unveils train exclusively wrapped to celebrate Republic Day

The Delhi Metro on Thursday unveiled a train exclusively wrapped to celebrate the 75th Republic Day, officials said. The special train was flagged off from the Mandi House Metro Station on the Violet Line by Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Vikas Kumar. In a post on X, the DMRC said, "A metro train specially wrapped to celebrate the 75th Republic Day was formally pressed into service today from Mandi House Metro station on the Violet Line in the presence of Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law and Justice, and DMRC MD Vikas Kumar." The minister signed on the decorated train and also interacted with specially-abled children who were a part of the event, it said. Mumbai: Protests against work at Aarey metro; 4 released after detention

Four persons who were detained for protesting against the metro rail carshed construction in Mumbai's Aarey forest area on Monday were released after 10 hours, a police official said. He said protesters Tabrez Sayyed and Jayesh Bhise were detained first after notices under section 149 (action to prevent cognizable offence) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were issued to them and then two others, identified as Laxman Jadhav and Rohit, were detained, he said. Commuters on Delhi Metro's Violet Line faced hardship as services were delayed for nearly two hours on Saturday due to some technical issues. Vikas Kumar appointed Delhi Metro Rail Corp's director of operations

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has appointed Vikas Kumar, an Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, as the director of operations, officials said on Wednesday. The DMRC has the largest operational metro network in the country, spanning over 390 km, and has strengthened its operation and maintenance (O&M) wing with new appointments, they said. Vikas Kumar, an officer of the 1988-batch of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, who was earlier working as executive director of operations in the DMRC, has been appointed as Director (Operations), the Delhi Metro said in a statement. Also, A K Garg, who was so far looking after operation and maintenance, as Director (Operations), has been appointed Director (Infrastructure), it said. Kumar is an electrical engineering graduate from IIT-Roorkee (1987) and did his M.Tech from IIT-Delhi in 1989.
