MK Stalin bats for reviving Sethusamudram project for economic prosperity

The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has called for reviving the Sethusamudram Ship Canal project in the wake of the Centre's claim on the presence of the real form of Ram Setu in Rameswaram. Chief Minister M K Stalin batted for reviving the project for economic prosperity of the nation and enhancing the freight handling capacity of Indian ports. The project, which was started on July 2, 2005 at an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore, came to a standstill after protests by environmentalists and Hindu activists against the demolition of the Ram Setu, a symbol of heritage. The DMK had in the run-up to the 2021 Assembly election promised to complete the project when it comes to power for bringing economic benefits for southern Tamil Nadu. TN govt announces Rs 1,000 as Pongal gift for ration card holders

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has directed providing Rs 1,000 to ration card holders in the state on the occasion of Pongal harvest festival next month, the state government said on Thursday. All 'Rice' ration card holders will be eligible for the largesse which will also apply to the families residing in Sri Lankan Rehabilitation Camps, an official release here said. One kg each rice and sugar will also be provided to the beneficiaries. As many as 2.19 crore ration card holders will benefit from the move that will entail an expenditure of Rs 2,356.67 crore, the release added. Stalin will launch the Pongal Gift scheme here on January 2. The festival will be celebrated on January 15.

Mamata Banerjee hints at discussing political issues with M K Stalin today

West Bengal Cheif Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday hinted that she may discuss political issues and collaboration with other regional parties at her courtesy call on her Tamil Nadu counterpart MK Stalin, slated for this evening. Describing her call on the DMK strongman as a courtesy, she, however, added, when two politicians meet, some politics are always discussed. She was speaking to reporters at Kolkata airport before leaving for Chennai. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to hold a meeting with her Tamil Nadu counterpart MK Stalin in Chennai, an official said on Tuesday. Banerjee will travel to the southern metropolis on Wednesday as she has been invited by West Bengal Governor La Ganesan to his elder brother's birthday on November 3. The CM, who is likely to stay a night in Chennai, may pay a visit to Stalin at his camp office on November 2, soon after reaching there, he said. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday filed his nomination papers seeking to contest the president's post in the ruling DMK, setting into motion the intra party election. Tamil Nadu to soon come out with electronic hardware policy: CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu would soon come out with a new electronic hardware policy aimed at boosting domestic hardware production and exports, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Friday. The State has been attracting investments not only in manufacturing of smartphones but also in computers, electronic parts, telecommunication equipment, home appliances, he said after inaugurating a manufacturing unit of Pegatron Technology India Pvt Ltd in neighbouring Chengalpet district. "The government considers the electronics department as an emerging sector and soon a Tamil Nadu electronic hardware policy will be rolled out to boost domestic production and exports," Stalin said. He unveiled a plaque at Mahindra World City, about 45 km from here, to mark the inauguration of the manufacturing facility set up at an investment of Rs 1,100 crore that would generate 14,000 jobs. CM MK Stalin launches Green TN Mission, urges people to join hands

Making a fervent pitch to collectively address the challenges of climate change, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday urged the people to join the government efforts in spreading forest cover and conserving nature for posterity. Launching the Green Tamil Nadu Mission, a flagship scheme of the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company - a new special purpose vehicle created by the state government - at Arignar Anna Zoological park in Vandalur here, he said the initiative is aimed at increasing the state's tree and forest cover to 33 per cent from 23.69 per cent in the next 10 years. CM Stalin announces Rs 600-cr IT park in Madurai to build a tech hub

To make Madurai a technology hub, an information technology park would be set up here at a cost of about Rs 600 crore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Friday. Addressing the southern regional MSME meet here, Stalin said the park would be set up by the State-run TIDEL in association with the Madurai Corporation. "This IT park will be operated and administered by TIDEL. The park will be set up in two phases in Madurai's downtown Maatuthavani." In the first phase, the IT park would come up on a 5-acre campus. Arvind Kejriwal to inaugurate Delhi model schools scheme in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government is all set to inaugurate on Monday the Schools of Excellence and Model Schools Scheme, which is broadly based on schools in Delhi with upgraded infrastructure.
