With the financial year 2024-25 nearing close, the NDMC has intensified its tax recovery efforts, identifying 3,200 taxpayers who have defaulted for three consecutive years, the civic body said in a statement. The defaulters have been warned of coercive measures if payments are not made within the stipulated time. In another step to curb the rising air pollution in the national capital, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is likely to double its parking charges. "In keeping Delhi's rising pollution in mind, the NDMC has decided to double its parking charges to encourage people to travel by public transportation," a senior NDMC official told PTI. The order regarding the hike in parking charges is to be released soon, the official added. Under the normal parking charges for surface parking at the NDMC parking lots, four-wheelers are charged Rs 20 per hour (with a maximum of Rs 100 for a day), while two-wheelers are charged Rs 10 per hour. In the case of multilevel parking sites, the charges are Rs 10 for four hours for cars and Rs 5 up to four hours for two-wheelers. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a five per cent rebate on the property tax payment on or before September 30, an official statement said on Friday. The rebate is also available on service charges of government properties, it said. "The assessment list is available on the NDMC website, www.ndmc.gov.in, and concerned tax payers may login by using user ID and password to view details of the property owned," the statement said. The council, which oversees municipal work in several central Delhi areas, advised the taxpayers to avoid the last-minute rush and plan their tax deposit well in time to get the rebate.

Water supply will be affected in parts of Lutyens' Delhi since the Tilak Marg and Bengali Market underground water reservoirs are receiving less water from the Delhi Jal Board, NDMC officials said on Monday. There is a 40 per cent shortage in supply being received from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area, they added. "As informed by DJB that production of potable water from Wazirabad water plant is not running at full capacity due to non-availability of raw water, hence water supply in command area of Tilak Marg underground water reservoir (UGR) and Bengali market UGR will be made available once in a day, preferably in morning time," the official said. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will set up six control rooms to check waterlogging during the monsoon season this time, officials said on Thursday. NDMC member Kuljeet Singh Chahal reviewed the measures for the monsoon during the day and said the de-silting work of existing drainage systems in the NDMC area will be completed by June 30. The control rooms will be set up at the Sangli Mess, Khan Market, Netaji Nagar, Malcha Marg, Mandir Marg and Hanuman Road drainage service centres, and will be equipped with portable pumps with generator set, trucks, tools with facilitation of duty officers and manpower, he said. Last year, 300 complaints were received in the control room in connection with waterlogging. The NDMC has identified five vulnerable points of water stagnation -- Africa Avenue, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Panchkuian Road, Purana Quila Road and Lodhi Estate, Chahal said. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has customised an eco-friendly CNG-run tree ambulance' equipped with two water tanks, having storage capacities of 750 litres and 250 litres, and a high-pressure pump with a jetting hose. It also has space for carrying equipment, pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and so on. A team will be deployed in the ambulance to check the health of trees and to attend to complaints or reports received from field staff related to pest infestation, hollow or drying trees on a regular basis for need of treatment, washing of trees on regular basis, a statement said. The New Delhi Municipal Council's revenues for the 2023-24 financial year exceeded its target, with property tax collection crossing the Rs 1,000-crore mark for the first time in its history, officials said on Wednesday. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) collected a revenue of Rs 3,795.30 crore from receipt sources such as property tax, licence fees, commercial revenue (water and electricity) and parking fees, it said in a statement. For the first time in the NDMC's history, the revenue from property tax crossed the Rs 1,000-crore mark, it said. "The NDMC has collected Rs 1,025.59 crore in property tax against a target of Rs 1,150 crore. The NDMC had collected property tax revenue of Rs 931.20 crore in 2022-23, Rs 950.75 crore in 2021-22 and Rs 690.78 crore in 2020-21," it added. The advertisements were in the form of hoardings, posters, banners, wall paintings, signages and flags, it stated. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force on March 16 with the Election Commission (EC) announcing the schedule for the general elections. Delhi will vote on May 25 in the sixth phase of the seven-phase polls. Counting of votes is on June 4. The New Delhi Municipal Council on Tuesday conducted a sealing drive in Connaught Place over non-payment of property tax dues, officials said. Five to six shops were sealed, with the drive going on till late evening, the officials said. The drive was carried out in Connaught Place's B, C, D and G blocks. Atul Bhargava, president of the New Delhi Traders' Association, demanded that there should be a uniform tax regime across Delhi. "The NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) should follow the tax regime of the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi). Why are there separate tax regimes?" he asked. The New Delhi Municipal Council is looking to hire a financial advisor for assessment in the development of parking facilities in the Lutyens' Delhi on a public-private partnership basis, the civic body said in a statement.
