Officials probing a blast that occurred near the Israeli embassy here suspect it was a well-orchestrated plan, knowing that no CCTV camera was installed on Prithviraj Road, police sources said on Wednesday. A low-intensity blast occurred in the area between the boundary walls of the house on plot number 4 -- Nanda's House -- and the Central Hindi Training Institute on plot number 2A on Prithviraj Road on Tuesday evening. The area has bushes, plants and trees and no CCTV camera, the sources said. The area is behind the Israeli embassy on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, running parallel to Prithviraj Road. The sources said there was no CCTV camera at the location as compared to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road where more than a dozen cameras are installed outside and near the embassy. "Nanda's House and the Hindi training institute have CCTVs inside their gates," a source said, adding that cameras are also installed at the entry gates of the other houses. Delhi Police on Tuesday evening received a call about a blast near the Israel embassy located in the New Delhi district but no explosive has been found yet, officials said. The search operation is underway, they said. When contacted, Israeli embassy spokesperson Guy Nir said, "We can confirm that around 5:48 pm there was a blast in close proximity to the embassy. Delhi Police and the security team are still investigating the situation." According to Delhi Fire Services officials, they received a call about the blast at 5:45 pm and it was transferred from the Delhi Police PCR (police control room). The fire department immediately sent two fire engines to the spot. Police and fire department officials are at the spot and a search operation is underway, the fire officials said. The air quality index (AQI) in the national capital on Saturday morning was recorded under 'severe' category, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said. The AQI in the national capital was recorded at 447, which comes under the severe' category. "We have plans to convert the present white-blue Vande Bharat into saffron-grey colour in the future because they are in the process of manufacturing at coach factories," a senior NR official told PTI. Airbus Helicopters, a part of the European aviation major Airbus, on Friday said it has partnered with domestic MRO operator Indamer for servicing its helicopter fleet in India. Under this arrangement, Indamer will provide Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services for the rotor-wing aircraft at its facilities in Mumbai, New Delhi and Nagpur, Airbus Helicopters said in a statement. In addition to these three, Indamer also has a MRO facility in Pune. The MRO will provide faster turnaround for servicing and help create an efficient after-market experience for the Airbus Helicopters customers not only in India but also in the wider South Asia region, it said. The tie-up will give a significant boost to the development of the helicopter MRO ecosystem in the country, it added. The sex ratio in the national capital dropped to 929 in 2022 from 932 a year back, according to a report published by the Delhi government. The 'Annual report on registration of births and deaths in Delhi, 2022' showed that the birth rate in Delhi increased to 14.24 per thousand of population during 2022 from 13.13 in 2021. The death rate declined to 6.07 per cent in 2022 from 8.28 per cent in 2021. It also revealed a significant jump in the average number of births per day in Delhi i.e. up from 745 in 2021 to 823 in 2022. The sex ratio declined to 929 per thousand males in 2022 from 932 in 2021, the report said. The report said 1,55,670 (51.83 per cent) of the total births registered were males and 1,44,581 (48.14 per cent) were females and 99 (0.03 per cent) belonged to the "others" category. Out of the total births, 2,82,389 (94.02 per cent) were institutional -- 1,86,905 (66.19 per cent) of them in government hospitals -- and 17,961 (5.98 per cent) were domiciliary in nature.
Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Thursday said the AAP-led MCD has set the ball rolling for creating a "proper database" of property tax records using cutting-edge technology and it aims to get 15 lakh properties geo-tagged in the next two months. At a press conference held at the Civic Centre here, Oberoi said those who get their properties geo-tagged will get a "rebate". She said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has already begun the process to geo-tag properties in the city. "In the last seven days, 20,000 properties have been geo-tagged, and the target is to have 15 lakh properties tagged in the next two months. The priority is to include four lakh non-residential properties," she said. Oberoi said the MCD aims to achieve this geo-tagging target by January 30 with the help of a mobile application. "The geo-tagging will generate a unique address, unique code, and the portal will have a proper database of records related to property tax and such tax payers," she told ...
