The negotiations for a proposed bilateral trade agreement between India and the US are progressing, and both countries are working to close the deal "quickly", Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday. He expressed confidence that "good news" on this front will be announced in the near future. "Every free trade agreement stands on its own legs. And we are having very good negotiations. My counterpart in the US and I have a very wonderful working relationship and a wonderful personal friendship. We are working towards closing the deal quickly," Goyal told PTI in an interview. He was replying to a question about when the "father of all deals" between India and the US would become a reality, now that the "mother of all deals" is already in the bag. He said that the NCP, as part of the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, has performed very well. "I personally do not see that will happen," he told PTI in an interview when asked his views on the talks of the merger of the two NCP factions. Goyal said that the NCP leadership "was with Ajit Pawar and now with Sunetra Pawar Ji". He added that Praful Patel has been appointed as the national president of the Nationalist Congress Party. "I don't see Mr Sharad Pawar being invited to join the NCP, given that he has lost the people's trust and the vote," he added.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday met the US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, and American Senator Steve Daines and discussed bilateral issues. The meeting is important as India and the US are engaged in negotiating a bilateral trade agreement amidst a steep 50 per cent import duty imposed by the Donald Trump administration on Indian goods since August. "Delighted to again meet my good friends US Senator @SteveDaines and the US Ambassador to India @SergioGor. Union minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday stressed the need for incentivising precast and steel construction methods to reduce dust pollution during building work. All over the world, you don't see reinforced concrete (RC) mixers. You see steel and precast structures. Maybe they are a bit expensive. I was thinking of discussing this with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on whether we can give concessions and incentives for this, Goyal said. He was addressing a meeting of businessmen and housing society office-bearers at Adarsh Complex in Malad West suburb of North Mumbai, ahead of the January 15 municipal corporation elections in Mumbai. Dust caused during construction work leads to pollution, Goyal said, and called for reinforced concrete (RC) construction mixers to be shifted out of the city. I removed four-five of them from my (parliamentary constituency) area, Goyal said. Goyal also suggested that instead of making it mandatory not to use processes causing pollution, efforts should
