PLI schemes attracted over Rs 95,000 cr investment till Sep 2023: Centre

The production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for 14 sectors have attracted over Rs 95,000 crore in investment till September this year, an official statement said on Tuesday. According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry, as many as 746 applications have been approved till November 2023 under these schemes. In the Union Budget 2021-22, the government announced an outlay of Rs 1.97 lakh crore for the schemes. The sectors included electronics, telecommunication, pharma, white goods (AC and LED light components), and textiles. The aim is to enhance India's manufacturing capabilities and exports. Govt cleared 746 PLI applications till November for different sectors

As many as 746 applications have been approved till November 2023 under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for 14 sectors such as pharma, white goods, and electronics, an official statement said on Tuesday. The schemes for 14 sectors were announced with an outlay of Rs 1.97 lakh crore to enhance India's manufacturing capabilities and exports. The commerce and industry ministry said that beneficiary companies have set up units in more than 150 districts (24 states) and over Rs 95,000 crore of investment has been reported till September, which has led to production/sales of Rs 7.80 lakh crore and employment generation of over 6.4 lakh. Disbursal of Rs 79 cr under PLI for white goods expected in last quarter

The government is expected to disburse Rs 79 crore fiscal incentives under PLI for white goods in the last quarter of this financial year as certain selected beneficiary firms have started production, a senior official said. The production linked incentive (PLI) scheme on white goods seeks to encourage domestic manufacturing of air conditioners and LED light components. The official also said that the target of Rs 11,000 crore incentive disbursement for different sectors under the scheme during the current fiscal may fall short. "Lot of the disbursement will come in the last fiscal. Lot of projects are in gestation period. In the white goods sector, we are expecting about Rs 79 crore disbursement in the last quarter," the official said. Of the 64 selected beneficiaries of the PLI scheme under the white goods segment, 15 have started production. These 15 beneficiaries had opted for a gestation period of up to March 31, 2022. Daikin to accelerate supply of domestic products, 3rd plant goes on stream

Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt Ltd on Thursday said it is set to accelerate supplies of products manufactured in the country for both domestic and international markets with the commercialisation of its third plant. The company, a wholly-owned arm of Japan's Daikin Industries Ltd said its third integrated air-conditioning and compressor manufacturing facility at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, has been set up with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. The new plant spread across 75.5 acres has been set up as part of a PLI scheme and it helps the company leverage on India's manufacturing potential to produce for the world.
