Counting of votes begin in Arunachal Pradesh

Counting of votes for two Lok Sabha constituencies and 57 Assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh began on Thursday amidst a massive security blanket, an official said. Overnight downpour could not dampen the spirit of the people as they were seen making a beeline to the counting centres since early morning to know the result of candidates. The Election Commission of India has set up 24 counting halls in 20 counting centres spread across 20 districts of the state. The counting of votes for Lok Sabha seats as well as for assembly seats would be held simultaneously, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Liken Koyu said. : Counting of votes polled during the Apr 23 Lok Sabha polls for 20 seats in Kerala began Thursday morning amidst heavy security. The southern state had witnessed a heavy polling of 77.68 per cent, the highest in 30 years, where the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF and the opposition Congress-headed UDF put up a fierce fight to garner maximum seats. Counting of votes polled on April 18 for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the Union Territory of Puducherry and also the bypoll to Thattanchavady Assembly segment began amid tight security at 8 am Thursday. Counting underway in Telangana for 17 Lok Sabha seats

Amid tight security, counting of votes for 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana got underway Thursday in 126 counting halls located at 35 places across the State. In the first round of counting, postal votes and electronically transmitted postal ballot (ETPBS) have been taken up for counting and subsequently votes from Electronic Voting Machines will be counted, according to official sources. Counting of votes for 38 Parliamentary segments and bypolls to 22 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu began amid tight security Thursday. Trends are expected to emerge after about an hour. The bypolls and Parliamentary elections are crucial for both the ruling AIADMK and main opposition DMK with the former looking to retain power in Tamil Nadu and the latter eyeing a comeback after consecutive poll setbacks. Counting of votes is underway in 45 centres across the state, with over 17,000 polling staff and 45,000 police personnel on duty. As many as 1,520 personnel from the Central Armed Paramalitary Forces and over 38,000 from state police have been deployed on duty. A total of 88 counting observers are tasked to oversee the counting process.

Counting of Lok Sabha votes begin in West Bengal

Counting of votes for 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal began at 8 am on Thursday, an election official said. Around 25,000 personnel have been deployed to count votes in 379 counting halls, which are being guarded by 82 companies of Central forces. Elections in the state were held in seven-phases beginning April 11, with 466 candidates, including 54 women, in the fray. Besides imposing prohibitory order under section 144 within 100-metre radius of the counting venues, there will be a three-tier security cordon. Goa: Counting begins for 2 Lok Sabha, 4 Assembly seats

Counting of votes for elections to two Lok Sabha constituencies and four Assembly seats where bypolls were held, began at 8 am Thursday at two centres. Votes for North Goa district were being counted in Panaji and for South Goa district in Margao, an election official said. Counting of votes are underway for 28 Lok Sabha constituencies that went for polls in Karnataka in two phases, the results of which is likely to have its bearing on the stability of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) coalition government. Chhattisgarh: Counting for 11 Lok Sabha seats begins

Counting of votes for all 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh began at 27 centres, one each at every district headquarters, at 8 am on Thursday. Elaborate security arrangements have been made at the counting centres, particularly those in Naxal-hit areas, state Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo told PTI.
