State-owned Punjab & Sind Bank on Wednesday reported a more than two-fold jump in its net profit to Rs 282 crore in the December 2024 quarter as bad loans declined. The Delhi-headquartered bank had earned a net profit of Rs 114 crore a year ago. The bank's total income increased to Rs 3,269 crore during the quarter under review against Rs 2,853 crore in the same period last year, Punjab & Sind Bank said in a regulatory filing. The interest income also rose to Rs 2,931 crore compared to Rs 2,491 crore in the year-ago period. On the asset quality front, gross non-performing assets (NPAs) declined to 3.83 per cent of the gross loans by the end of December 2024 from 5.70 per cent a year ago. Similarly, net NPAs or bad loans came down to 1.25 per cent from 1.80 per cent at the end of the third quarter of the previous fiscal. State-owned Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) on Wednesday posted a 36 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 1,406 crore in the third quarter ended December 2024 with rising interest income. The Pune-based lender had posted a net profit of Rs 1,036 crore in the October-December period a year ago. Total income increased to Rs 7,112 crore during the quarter under review against Rs 5,851 crore in the same period previous year, BoM said in a regulatory filing. The bank earned an interest income of Rs 6,325 crore during the quarter compared to Rs 5,171 crore a year ago. The bank was able to reduce gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) to 1.80 per cent of the gross loans by the end of December 2024 from 2.04 per cent in the year-ago period. Similarly, net NPAs or bad loans came down to 0.2 per cent from 0.22 per cent at the end of the third quarter of the previous fiscal. Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd on Wednesday reported a 24 per cent decline in its third-quarter net profit as lower utilisation of infrastructure assets led to a fall in revenue. Consolidated net profit in October-December - the third quarter of April 2024 to March 2025 (FY25) fiscal - fell to Rs 2.74 crore from Rs 3.62 crore a year back, the company said in a statement. Its revenue fell 9.4 per cent to Rs 18.60 crore from Rs 20.52 crore in October-December 2023. This was "on account of lower utilisation of infrastructure assets," the statement said. "The company continues to provide infrastructure support services, which include transportation of petroleum products and raw water through pipelines and other support services mainly to Reliance Industries Limited," it said. "The company presently does not have any expansion plans on the anvil.

HDFC Life on Wednesday reported a 14 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 415 crore in the December quarter. The private sector insurer's profit stood at Rs 365 crore in the year-ago period, HDFC Life said in a regulatory filing. However, total income declined to Rs 16,914 crore in the latest quarter from Rs 26,694 crore in the year-ago period. The company's solvency ratio also declined to 188 per cent from 190 per cent as on December 31, 2023 as against the regulatory requirement of 150 per cent. For the nine-month period ended December, the life insurer posted a profit of Rs 1,326 crore as against Rs 1,157 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Oriental Hotels Ltd has reported a profit after tax of Rs 13.99 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2024, the company said on Wednesday. Oriental Hotels Ltd reported a profit after tax of Rs 16.43 crore during the corresponding quarter of last year. Oriental Hotels Ltd, an associate company of The Indian Hotels Company Ltd manages several hotels including the Taj Coromandel, Chennai, Taj Fisherman's Cove Resort and Spa, Chennai, among others. Revenue during the quarter under review surged to Rs 122.05 crore from Rs 106.07 crore registered during the same period of last year. "In Q3FY25, OHL has reported an operating revenue of Rs 121 crore, a growth of 20 per cent over the previous year. Led by an increase 11 per cent increase in average room rate resulting in an operating EBITDA of Rs 34 crore, a growth of 22 per cent.", Oriental Hotels Ltd Managing Director and CEO Pramod Ranjan said.
