Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that the BJP and BJD has a "partnership" in Odisha and the Congress has been opposing them to protect the interest of the people of the state. Gandhi resumed his 'Bharat Joda Nyay Yatra' in Odisha's steel city here. In a brief speech, he said: "As you know Naveen Patnaik and Narendra Modi run a partnership government in Odisha. They both have joined hands and work in tandem. I find in Parliament that BJD supports the BJP. The BJD people also disturb us at the instance of BJP". Gandhi claimed that it is the Congress party alone which has been opposing the BJD-BJP combine for the people of Odisha. Gandhi said: "I have come to Odisha to open a shop of love in the market of hatred. ('Nafrat ki bazaar me mohabbat ki dukan khulne aaya hu')". The Congress leader also came down heavily on Odisha's BJD government saying that as many as 30 lakh people from the state have migrated as labourers to other states for livelihood as the state government "was not
The Congress on Wednesday attacked the government over fuel prices, alleging that crude oil has become cheaper in the last two years but "looting from the public continues". Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared a media report on X in which he claimed that crude oil prices have gone down by 38 per cent but its benefits were not passed on to consumers. In a post in Hindi on X, Ramesh said, "Recently the Prime Minister was sermonising in Parliament on inflation and other topics. But look at this feat of his government. Crude oil has become cheaper by 38 per cent in 2 years but looting from the public continues." This once again proves what Rahul Gandhi has stated that money is being "looted" from the public and put into the pockets of "crony capitalist friends", Ramesh said. "This is clearly an injustice to the people of the country. We are raising our voice against the "anyay kaal' of the last 10 years through the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra," he said. The Congress has been al

All of us understand the reason for re-launching him as he has failed and no one is accepting him," Pathak added. The Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to enter Odisha on Tuesday. Biramitrapur, a small industrial town in Sundergarh district through which the yatra will enter the state from Jharkhand, has been decked up with banners, cut-outs and hoardings of Gandhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday promised a nationwide caste census and removal of the 50 per cent cap on reservation if the INDIA bloc forms the government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha polls. He also alleged that the BJP tried to topple the JMM-Congress-RJD government in Jharkhand as the chief minister was a tribal. "Want to congratulate all alliance MLAs, (Champai) Soren ji as that they stopped the BJP-RSS conspiracy and protected the government of the poor," Gandhi said at a rally at the Shaheed Maidan here. Gandhi claimed that Dalits, tribals, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) were made bonded labourers and their participation was lacking in big companies, hospitals, schools, colleges and courts. "This is the biggest question before India. Our first step would be to get a caste census in the country," the former Congress chief said. Noting that more than 50 per cent reservation cannot be given under existing provisions, Gandhi promised that an Indian National Developmen

The screening committee for shortlisting candidates for the Lok Sabha polls in Chhattisgarh met here on Sunday with AICC in-charge of the state Sachin Pilot asserting that winnability is the main criteria for the selection of nominees. Besides Pilot, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and state unit chief Deepak Baij, among others, attended the meeting. After the meeting, Pilot said names of candidates for all the 11 Lok Sabha seats were discussed and asserted that winnability would be the main criteria for selection. "The sentiment in all 11 seats is in favour of the Congress. We have made a list of all the candidates who are eligible to win and are discussing the same," the Congress general secretary said. "In Chhattisgarh, we could not win the assembly elections but our vote margin was only 1-1.5 per cent (less than the BJP). People have been watching the reports of the central government for the last 10 years. The government has failed on every front," he said.

Gandhi was speaking during a road show in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district as part of his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra'. After a night halt in Tundi area in the district on Saturday, the yatra resumed from Govindpur in Dhanbad city on Sunday, the third day of his yatra in Jharkhand. The main objective of the yatra is to save public sector units from being sold to private entities, and ensure justice to unemployed youths and tribals of the country, Gandhi said. "The Congress stands for 'Jal-Jungle-Jamin' of the tribal people, for education and employment of youths. Economic imbalance, demonetisation, GST and unemployment have ruined the future of youths in the country," he said. The Congress on Sunday attacked the government over the issue of unemployment, alleging that Prime Minister "Modi-made jobs famine" is the height of the "anyay kaal" of the last 10 years. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh cited an analysis of long-term trends in job creation in the Indian labour market to attack the government. In a post on X, Ramesh said that during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi has been consistently highlighting the urgency of "Yuva Nyay (justice for the youth)". "The jobs famine in the country has been caused by the Modani-karan (Modani-sation) of the economy," he said. Now, a new analysis of India's unemployment crisis "exposes" the unemployment crisis of the last 10 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he claimed. Ramesh said it comes from one of the world's leading economists, a professor at the London School of Economics. "Compared to 10 years ago, less people are working, the youth are worst affected, and jobs are paying much less,"
BJP leader Prakash Javadekar has claimed that his party will end Kerala's bipolar politics in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls by winning at least five seats as, unlike the 2019 elections, people in the state realise that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi cannot become prime minister. "If in 2019 you asked any Keralite; Hindus, Christians, Muslims, he would have told you Rahul Gandhi will become prime minister. They had their own discourse and belief. Now ask anybody in Kerala; Hindus, Muslims, Christians, he will tell you PM Modi is coming back for a third time," the BJP's election in-charge of the state told PTI in an interview. The former Union minister said his party's concerted outreach to Christians will result in a sizeable section of them voting for it in the Lok Sabha polls, expected to be held in April-May. Asked how things are different for the BJP from 2019 when its alliance got around 15 per cent votes and no seat, he said everybody now realises that Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, sought to know in what capacity Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was being invited to the event. "Has she (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) won even as a sarpanch in any village in the country or as MLA or as MLC? Does she have any (government) protocol in our state?" asked the BRS MLC while addressing reporters. If Vadra is invited to government programmes, her party would protest by releasing black balloons, she said. Making a veiled reference to MLAs of ruling JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand camping in Hyderabad ahead of the trust vote to be faced by the Champai Soren government, Kavitha wondered of it is not a waste of public money as a minister accompanied the MLAs with escort to a luxury resort after they ..
