Andhra Pradesh DGP Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has transferred the cases relating to the alleged attacks on the TDP office and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's residence in 2021 by YSRCP cadres to the CID, said an official on Monday. TDP and YSRCP leaders reportedly clashed outside the then opposition leader Naidu's residence at Undavalli in September 2021 while the TDP central office in Mangalagiri mandal was allegedly stormed by over 100 YSRCP leaders and cadres in October 2021. "The decision to transfer the cases to CID was taken by the DGP about two days ago. The superintendent of police (Guntur) directed us to be ready with the updated record of these two cases to hand them over to the CID," Mangalagiri sub-divisional police officer Murali Krishna told PTI. Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and opposition YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, complaining about the alleged atrocities against his party cadres by the ruling TDP and its allies. YSRCP chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday requested Assembly Speaker C Ayyannapatrudu to recognise him as the leader of opposition and his party as the principal opposition party. Reddy made this plea in a letter to the speaker. Law mandates that whichever party has the highest number of seats in the opposition should be recognised as the principal opposition, Reddy said in the letter shared by YSRCP to PTI. Close on the heels of the demolition of the under construction YSRCP central office at Tadepalli in Andhra Pradesh recently, several district offices of the party have started receiving notices from civic bodies, questioning the legitimacy of their construction. The opposition party shared a notice it received in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday about the legitimacy of its Vizianagaram district office from the local civic body. "You are hereby directed to stop the unauthorized construction work and submit a reply to this notice within seven days from the date of receipt of this notice in writing by you/your authorised agent," said the notice. In the event of no reply, the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation warned that "it will be treated as a continuous and intentional offence and further action will be taken as per provisions laid down under Section 452 (1) and 461 (1) of APMC Act, 1955".
