The Supreme Court on Friday extended the interim bail granted to former Delhi minister Satyendar Kumar Jain in a money laundering case till December 4 when his plea for regular bail will be taken up for hearing. A bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi posted the matter for hearing on December 4 as Justice A S Bopanna, who is presiding over the case, was not available today. "In the meanwhile, the interim bail, granted earlier, is extended till the next date of hearing, the bench said. Prior to this, the top court had extended the interim bail of Jain till October 9 and asked him to not make the pendency of the proceedings before it a ruse to delay the trial in the case. The Enforcement Directorate has claimed that the AAP leader was seeking repeated adjournments in the trial court on grounds that his bail plea was pending before the apex court. Manish Sisodia reaches his residence from Tihar Jail to meet ailing wife

Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday reached his residence here from Tihar Jail to meet his ailing wife after permission from a city court. Sisodia, who is in jail in connection with the alleged liquor scam case, was allowed to meet his wife for six hours between 10 am and 4 pm. Sisodia accompanied by the police personnel reached his home on Mathura Road in a prison van at around 10 am. In June too he was granted permission by the Delhi High Court to meet his wife Seema, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. However, he could not meet her as she was hospitalised after a sudden deterioration in her condition. The court while permitting Sisodia to meet his wife ordered him not to talk to the media or indulge in any political activity. Former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, currently on interim bail in a money laundering case, underwent a spinal surgery at a private hospital in the city and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal prayed for his speedy recovery on Saturday. Jain was recommended a critical spinal surgery by three major hospitals. He underwent the surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital Friday evening, sources said. Rohini court shootout accused Tillu Tajpuriya killed in Tihar Jail

Jailed gangster and an accused in the 2021 Rohini court shootout case, Tillu Tajpuriya, was killed allegedly by members of the Gogi gang inside Tihar Jail early on Tuesday, officials said. Prison officials said the incident took place around 6.30 am. He was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he was declared dead. A senior prison official said 33-year-old Sunil alias Tillu Tajpuriya, who was lodged on the ground floor of the high-risk ward, was allegedly attacked by four inmates affiliated with the rival Gogi gang around 6.15 am. The attackers -- Deepak alias Titar, Yogesh alias Tunda, Rajesh and Riyaz Khan -- were lodged on the first floor of the same ward. MCD to procure 60k benches for schools, jail inmates to make 25k of them

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is planning to procure around 60,000 dual desks for its schools out of which 25,000 could be made by Central Tihar Jail inmates with orders likely to be placed soon, officials said on Thursday. There has been a shortage of desks in municipal schools and the issue was also raised by the Delhi Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) recently, an MCD official said. He said the procurement are beng made so that students are not forced to sit on floors. An official said around nine lakh students study in MCD schools and there is a shortage of 74,142 dual desks (27,056 of small size and 47,086 big size) currently. The erstwhile East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), before it was merged with NDMC and SDMC to make a unified MCD, had already given order for the procurement of 14,489 dual desks to Delhi Prison. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. Delhi excise policy: ED questions Manish Sisodia second time in Tihar

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Thursday began the second round of questioning of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia at the Tihar Jail here in connection with its money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy, officials said.
