Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) on Thursday launched an all-new model CB200X in the country, tagged at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom Gurugram). The new model is a carefully crafted machine for everyday usage as much as it is for exploring the roads less travelled, the two-wheeler major said. "Keeping in mind the evolving lifestyle of the Indian youth, the urban explorer - CB200X gives today's youngsters a riding experience that pushes them to explore more. Piaggio Vehicles on Thursday announced the reopening of its two-wheeler dealerships across India, which had shut operations due to a massive increase in the coronavirus infection cases between April and mid-May across the country. The country's top two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Saturday said it has sold 3,72,285 units last month, down by 35 per cent from 5,76,957 units dispatched in March this year. The company said sales in April were subdued due to the temporary closure of plant operations and the retail outlets across several key territories in India on account of the impact of the second wave of COVID-19. The sales numbers of April 2021 were not comparable with the corresponding month of the previous year (April 2020), since no vehicles were manufactured and dispatched to dealers due to the nationwide lockdown after the outbreak of COVID-19, it added. The two-wheeler major further noted that in keeping with its commitment to the safety and welfare of its people and to break the chain of the spread of coronavirus, it has decided to extend the shutdown at its manufacturing facilities across India, its Global Parts Center (GPC) in Neemrana and the R&D facility the Centre of Innovation and Technology .

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Thursday said it will temporarily shut its four manufacturing plants across the country for 15 days with effect from May 1, in view of the severe situation on account of COVID-19 second wave and subsequent multiple lockdowns across various cities. The two-wheeler major said it will utilise the production halt from May 1 to May 15, for its annual plant maintenance activities. "Depending upon the evolving COVID situation and the market recovery, the company shall be reviewing its production plan in the subsequent months," HMSI said in a statement. During the period, all Honda office associates will continue to work-from-home to maintain business continuity while extending all possible support to customers and business partners, it added.
