Police deployed in UP's Tilhar after post on Prophet flares tempers

Security was stepped up in the Tilhar area of the district here after a large number of people gathered outside a police station demanding the arrest of a youth accused of sharing a social media post on Prophet Mohammad, police said on Wednesday. The accused has since been arrested and police have been deployed at his house to prevent any flare-ups. Police were deployed at all intersections of the Tilhar town as a precautionary measure, they said. Superintendent of Police S Anand told PTI that one Varun Dhawan, a resident of Dabhaura village under Tilhar Police Station, had on Tuesday shared a post related to the Prophet on his social media account. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said a multi-pronged approach is needed to destroy the entire network of the drug mafia and rehabilitate addicts. Addressing a meeting of the National Narcotics Coordination Portal (NCORD) state level committee, Adityanath said the problem of drug trafficking was not confined to a state and is widespread, and efforts to deal with it should also be integrated. UP Rera to use AI in quasi-judicial cases in e-Courts for faster resolution

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) on Tuesday said it has invited expression of interest (EOI) for use of artificial intelligence in quasi-judicial process in e-Courts. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) includes interventions at the level of complaint filing, filtering or prioritisation of cases or notifications and tracking of cases, it said in an official statement. The UP RERA was established in 2017 to regulate the fast-growing real estate sector, bring transparency, protect the interest of homebuyers and ensure speedy resolutions of disputes between consumers and builders. UP court agrees to hear plea seeking ASI survey of entire Gyanvapi complex

A court here on Tuesday agreed to hear a plea for a survey by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) of the entire Gyanvapi mosque premises located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Accepting the petition filed by lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain, who represents the Hindu side, District Court Judge A K Vishvesh asked the Gyanvapi mosque committee to file its reply to the plea by May 19, District Government Counsel Mahendra Nath Pandey said. The court fixed the next hearing in the matter on May 22. On Friday, the Allahabad High Court ordered determination of the age of the structure claimed to be a shivling in the Gyanvapi mosque using modern technology. It set aside an October 14 order of the Varanasi District Court that rejected a plea for scientific investigation, including carbon dating, of the structure found in May 2022 during a court-mandated survey of the Gyanvapi mosque. The BJP "lost miserably" in seats located just outside city limits despite "adopting every trick" in the Uttar Pradesh urban local body elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday. The BJP on Saturday registered wins on all 17 mayoral seats -- Varanasi, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Jhansi, Bareilly, Mathura-Vrindavan, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Shahjahanpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Firozabad and Meerut.
