Minimum temperature in Delhi settles at 10 Degree Celsius

Chilly morning coupled with shallow fog was seen in Delhi on Thursday morning and according to the MeT department there is a possibility of development of lightning on Friday.The maximum and minimum temperatures were hovering at 26 degree Celsius and 10 Degree Celsius with humidity oscillating between 80 to 86 per cent, according to the India Meteorological Department.Due to chilly winds, the air quality index (AQI) of the national capital is in the "moderate category" as the presence of moisture has increased the air's capacity to hold particulate matter (PM) for a longer time.The overall AQI of Delhi was docking at 142 in the morning. At Dhirpur, the AQI was 120 at 8 am, while in Mathura Road area it dipped to the moderate category at 156. Chilly winds blow over Delhi-NCR

After several days of cloudy weather, the national capital on Wednesday had clear skies but chilly winds blew over Delhi and its adjoining areas with no rainfall. Shallow fog is expected for Thursday and there is a possibility of development of lightning the day after, the MeT department said.The maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday at Delhi Safdarjung observatory was recorded at 22 degree Celsius, a departure of minus four degrees from normal for this time of the year and on Wednesday the minimum temperature was recorded at 11 degree Celsius, minus two degrees departure from normal, according to IMD.The humidity at 8.30 am was recorded at 97 per cent."Since the last 48 hours, Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad have been observing dry weather with mainly clear sky conditions. It was a cold day in the national capital on Tuesday with the mercury settling at four notches below the normal, MeT officials said . "The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below the normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 12 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal," they said. The humidity levels oscillated between 93 and 50 per cent. The weatherman has predicted a clear day on Wednesday with the possibility of shallow fog in the morning hours in some areas. "The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 24 and 10 degrees Celsius respectively," the officials said.

Delhiites woke up to a cold and foggy morning on Monday with the minimum temperature settling at 11.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below the average. A weather department official said cloudy skies will prevail ahead in the day with very light rain or thundershowers expected in some parts. The city has received 0.2 mm rainfall in past 24 hours. Relative humidity in the national capital was 89 per cent at 8.30 am. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius, the official said. Rain lashed parts of the national capital on Sunday with the minimum temperature being recorded at 11.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, the Meteorological (MeT) Department said. The maximum temperature settled at 22.7 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average, a MeT official said. Rainfall of 9.6 mm was recorded by the Safdarjung observatory, while 7.1 mm rainfall was recorded by the Palam observatory and 5.4 mm by the Lodhi Road observatory, he said. Biting cold continues in HP after fresh snowfall, rain

Biting cold continued in Himachal Pradesh as several areas in high, mid hills received fresh snowfall, whereas many other places witnessed rain, the Meteorological Department said. Kalpa, Keylong, Dalhousie and Manali experienced 23, 10, 7.5 and 7 cm snowfall from 5.30 pm Saturday and 8.30 am Sunday, the MeT Centre Shimla said. Many other areas of the state, including its capital Shimla (18.7 mm), received light rain. Manali, Kufri (minus 1.4 degrees Celsius each) and Dalhousie (minus 0.2 degree Celsius) shivered at sub-zero temperature during the period, it added. However, tribal district Lahaul and Spiti's administrative centre Keylong continued to be the coldest place in the state, with minimum temperature of minus 9.8 degrees Celsius, it said, adding that the minimum temperature in another tribal district Kinnaur's Kalpa was minus 2.8 degrees Celsius.

Delhiites woke up to a cloudy Sunday morning as the minimum temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius with a possibility of hailstorm at isolated pockets of the city, the Meteorological (MeT) Department said.
