Wimbledon announces record $73M prize fund and $4M for singles champions

Nick Kyrgios, the Wimbledon runner-up in 2022, will miss the Grand Slam tournament and the rest of the grass-court season, he said on Tuesday. The 30-year-old Australian has dealt with injuries in recent seasons, including wrist and knee operations. He's played only five singles matches in 2025, going 1-4. His most recent tournament was the Miami Open in March, when he won a match for the first time in nearly 2 1/2 years. Wimbledon replaces line judges with AI technology in break with tradition

That long-held Wimbledon tradition of line judges dressed in elegant uniforms is no more. The All England Club announced Wednesday that artificial intelligence will be used to make the out' and fault' calls at the championships from 2025. A proposal by Wimbledon organizers to expand the site of the Grand Slam tournament with 39 new tennis courts has been given the green light by local authorities. The All England Club's plans which include a new 8,000-seat show court with a retractable roof were approved Friday by the Greater London Authority despite protests by local residents. The planned expansion in Wimbledon Park, which is adjacent to the All England Club, would allow Wimbledon's qualifying tournament to be held on site rather than at nearby Roehampton Community Sports Centre. But some locals have objected to the plans over concerns about the environmental impact. Barbora beats Jasmine in Wimbledon final; wins her second Grand Slam title

Barbora Krejcikova won Wimbledon for her second Grand Slam title with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Jasmine Paolini in the final on Saturday. Krejcikova is a 28-year-old from the Czech Republic who adds this trophy to her championship at the French Open in 2021. She was unseeded in Paris back then and was only the 31st of 32 seeds at the All England Club after illness and a back injury this season limited her to a 7-9 record entering this tournament. Krejcikova is the eighth woman to leave Wimbledon as the champion in the past eight editions of the event.
