Noida airport to miss its third deadline; new date to be announced soon

The much-awaited Noida International Greenfield Airport in Jewar is set to miss its third deadline of May 15 set by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The new deadline for flight operations will be announced soon, UP Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh said on Wednesday. The proposed airport has already missed two deadlines -- September 29, 2024 and April 25, 2025. Singh on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with officials of the Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), Tata Projects Limited and Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL). He conducted a field inspection of the terminal building and other under-construction facilities at the site of Noida airport, also known as Jewar airport. UP govt signs MoUs to boost solar push, targets 500 GW green energy by 2030

The Uttar Pradesh government is advancing policy-driven efforts to accelerate green revolution in the state and has signed initial agreements with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and the Hinduja Group. The government has set an ambitious target to generate 500 gigawatts of solar energy by 2030, an official statement said. With a vision to transform Uttar Pradesh, especially regions like Bundelkhand, Vindhya, and adjoining areas, into a hub for solar energy, the government is taking policy-driven efforts, it added. All but one Pak citizen sent back from UP after Pahalgam attack: State govt

All Pakistani citizens, barring one, have been "expelled" from Uttar Pradesh under the Centre's orders after the Pahalgam terror attack, the state government said on Monday. The last Pakistani citizen is set to be deported on Wednesday and is under constant surveillance by police and intelligence agencies, it said in a statement. Uttar Pradesh has become the first state to achieve almost 100 per cent repatriation of Pakistani nationals within 24 hours, with only one remaining to be deported, it said, without mentioning the exact number of Pakistani nationals sent back. Allahabad HC warns UP govt of contempt in plea over Bishnoi gang threat

The Allahabad High Court has granted the Uttar Pradesh government one more month to comply with its order asking a state-level committee to decide on a man's application seeking security after he received a death threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In case the order has not been complied with by the end of the one-month period, the court asked Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, to whom the petitioner submitted his application, to appear before it on the next date of hearing to explain why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him. 5 killed in rain-related incidents in UP, CM Yogi orders swift relief

Rains accompanied by hailstorm and lightning lashed some parts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, leaving five persons dead in Firozabad, Siddharth Nagar and Sitapur districts, officials said. State capital Lucknow was among the places, which received rains. Firozabad Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Vishu Raja said that two people were killed due to lightning in the district. A 30-year-old pregnant woman Lalita Devi was killed after being struck by lightning in Daulatpur village of Narkhi area, while a 32-year-old man identified as Padav Veer Singh was killed in Chinari village of Jasrana area.
