Build hospitals along expressways to aid victims: CM Yogi to officials

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to take comprehensive measures to reduce road accidents. He emphasised the need for building hospitals on both sides of expressways -- similar to food plazas -- to provide immediate medical aid to accident victims. The chief minister issued the directions during a meeting of the State Road Safety Council that was attended by ministers, senior bureaucrats, divisional commissioners, district magistrates, police commissioners, and superintendents of police. According to an official statement, Adityanath said in 2024, Uttar Pradesh recorded 46,052 road accidents, leading to 34,600 injuries and over 24,000 deaths. He termed the figures "extremely tragic" and stressed the need for multi-departmental coordination to reduce accidents. He directed officials to identify and rectify black spots across the state's road network. Every expressway should have hospitals on both sides, just like food plazas. Trauma centres,

SP govt aided only its own people; we work for all UP residents: CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday targeted the Samajwadi Party, accusing it of selectively doling out financial help to SP-affiliated individuals during its reign and branding all welfare initiatives under the party name. In contrast, the BJP government is working sensitively for every resident of the state, Adityanath asserted. Responding to opposition queries in the legislative council, he said, "It is no longer difficult for any poor person to receive medical treatment. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the Chief Minister's Jan Arogya Yojana, 10 crore people in Uttar Pradesh receive health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh per year." He added that all government employees are entitled to free healthcare under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Cashless Health Scheme. Furthermore, MLAs and MLCs have the authority to allocate funds from their annual budgets to financially assist those in need. The chief minister highlighted that in the past seven-and-a-half year

AI-based surveillance to boost safety of pilgrims at Maha Kumbh: Officials

A unique application of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based surveillance system at the Maha Kumbh, implemented for the first time by the Yogi Adityanath administration on a mammoth scale, would help avert congregation accidents in the years ahead and avoid repetition of a tragedy like this year, Mela authorities said. At least 30 people were killed and over 90 others were injured in a stampede on January 29 at the ongoing Maha Kumbh congregation at Prayagraj, which has already witnessed a footfall of record 60 crore pilgrims. Some 2,750 close-circuit cameras monitoring the 4000-acre Mela ground, about 250 of which are AI-enabled, feeding information to the Integrated Control and Command Center (ICCC) of the Mela have empowered the authorities with unique and real-time insights into crowd density per metre square at the bathing ghats, people flow into the Mela premises per minute, parking status of vehicles, crowd accumulation at key junctions and the need to issue alerts based on ...
