PM Modi never requested Trump to 'mediate' on Kashmir: MEA

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified that no such request has been made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US President regarding mediation over Kashmir with Pakistan. MEA tweeted, "We have seen @POTUS's remarks to the press that he is ready to mediate, if requested by India and Pakistan, on Kashmir issue. No such request has been made by PM @narendramodi to US President. It has been India's consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally. Any engagement with Pakistan would require an end to cross border terrorism. The Shimla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration provide the basis to resolve all issues between India and Pakistan bilaterally." Congress Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha, Shashi Tharoor claimed it as elimination bill of RTI and said, "It is not an RTI (Amendment) Bill. It is an 'RTI elimination bill.The Centre had introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha on Friday to amend the RTI Act, seeking to give the government powers to fix salaries, tenures and other terms and conditions of employment of information commissioners amid vehement protests by opposition members.

The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Police arrested the son of Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar from Mumbai International Airport on July 18. He was arrested when he was trying to escape the country.

Mumbai MTNL building fire: 60 people rescued so far

Mumbai, July 22 (ANI): After a level 4 fire broke out in MTNL Building in Mumbai's Bandra area today, one fireman has also been admitted to a hospital after he experienced suffocation. According to the information given by the Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade, more than 60 people have been rescued so far. 30-35 are still trapped on the terrace of the building. Rescue operations and fire fighting operations are still underway.

Local groups organise Hajj training for pilgrims in Srinagar

Srinagar (JandK), July 22 (ANI): A local group in association with the Jammu and Kashmir Hajj Committee is organising a special training programme for the Hajj pilgrims to prepare them for their journey to Saudi Arabia. While speaking to ANI, trainer said, "We are organising this programme till July 26 to train the pilgrims for the Hajj. We tell them how to prepare for the pilgrimage; what documents they need to keep with themselves; what to carry; how to handle the luggage and spend time on the airport. People have to be very patient during this time." During the training, the pilgrims are told about boarding, lodging and other activities. Govt Degree College inaugurated in Rajouri's Doongi to strengthen higher education

Massive fire breaks out at Mumbai's MTNL building, 100 feared trapped

Mumbai, July 22 (ANI): A level 4 fire broke out in MTNL Building in Mumbai's Bandra area today. 14 fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Chandrayaan-2: It's beginning of historic journey of India towards moon, says ISRO Chief

Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), July 22 (ANI): The Indian Space Research Organistaion (ISRO) launched the Chandrayaan-2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota today. India will be the first country to land on the south pole region of the Moon. While addressing in Sriharikota on this occasion, ISRO Chairman K Sivan said, "I am extremely happy to announce that the GSLV MkIII-M1 successfully injected Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft into Earth Orbit. It is the beginning of a historic journey of India towards moon and to land at a place near South Pole to carry out scientific experiments." "After that serious technical snag we had, we fixed it and now ISRO has bounced back with flying colours," Sivan added.
