Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), Jul 22 (ANI): Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Sivan and other scientists cheered into celebrations after the successful ejection of Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft into Earth Orbit. ISRO's powerful GSLV Mk-III launcher successfully lifted off Chandrayaan-2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota.
Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), Jul 22 (ANI): The Indian Space Research Organistaion (ISRO) launched the Chandrayaan-2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota. Chandrayaan-2 was launched onboard ISRO's most powerful launcher, the 640-tonne rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle- Mark-III (GSLV Mk-III). Originally scheduled for a July 15 launch, the mission was called off 56 minutes before the launch due to a technical snag. If launched successfully, India will be the first country to land on the south side of the Moon.
Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), July 22 (ANI): 'Kanwariyas' staged protest against the local administration in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh on Monday. This comes after Rishikesh's iconic 'Lakshman Jhula' was closed few days back after an expert panel suggested it is not in a position to sustain any more load. 'Kanwariyas' protested at Neelkanth Mahadev Temple route. They wanted to travel on Lakshman Jhula but local administration denied the permission. Scuffle broke out between police and 'Kanwariyas' during the protest.
New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Asaduddin Owaisi, president of AIMIM believes that the remarks given by BJP MP Pragya Thakur on 'not elected to clean toilets' in a meeting of party workers in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district on Sunday was not shocking as she believes in caste and class discrimination. Owaisi said, "Not at all surprised, neither I'm shocked by this obnoxious statement; she says this because that is her thought process. The MP believes in the caste and class discrimination happening in India." He added, "She, Pragya Thakur, BJP MP from Bhopal also clearly tells that the kind of work the caste has defined, that should continue. It is very unfortunate. Also, she has openly opposed the PM's program."
Srinagar (JandK), July 22 (ANI): The Commander of Chinar Corps, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, met Haj pilgrims at Haj House in Srinagar on Monday. The pilgrims are leaving for Haj today. For Haj 2019, Government of India has allocated a quota of 60,000 Haj seats to Haj Group Organisers (HGO). Haj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca and Saudi Arabia which are the holiest city for Muslims. It is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims.
Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra), July 22 (ANI): At least two people died after a rashly driven car ramped into a group of people and a school bus in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai. While four others were critically injured in the accident. They were later admitted to a hospital. Further investigation is underway. More details are awaited.
Chandrayaan-2, India's indigenous moon mission, was successfully launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh today. It was launched atop a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mk-III, India's most powerful rocket, and is carrying an orbiter, a lander called Vikram and a rover called Pragyan, which has been almost entirely designed and made in India.

Sriharikota (AP), July 22 (ANI): As Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists gear up for the launch of India's moon mission Chandrayaan-2 after it was aborted last week due to technical glitch, people gathered at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota to witness the launch which is scheduled at 2.43 pm today. While speaking to ANI, a visitor said, "All Indians are very proud. We came last time as well but we were not able to see the launch." "This is the second time I'm coming here, last time we have failed to launch but it was okay as it would have landed in a world class embarrassment", said another visitor.

Darbhanga (Bihar), July 22 (ANI): Residents of Kakerghati village in Bihar's Darbhanga are setting up temporary shelters next to national highway-57after the floodwater entered their houses. While speaking to ANI, a police said, "Arrangements are being made to ensure safety of locals and to keep the road operational." "We are not getting anything from the government. We are stuck here," a local told to ANI. Around 12 districts including Sheohar, Dharbangha, Sitamarhi, North Champaran, Madhubani, Araria, and Kishanganj have been severely affected due to water levels rising in rivers following torrential rains. On July 19, the Chief Minister had kick started the process of sending cash relief of Rs 6,000 directly into the bank accounts of flood-affected families.
Katni (MP), July 22 (ANI): A man was beaten up by a group of people for smuggling cattle in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. A viral video shows the group of men intercepting a truck and freeing the cattle loaded onto it and beating up a man, the smuggler, whose hands are tied with a rope. The smuggler was later arrested by the police while those who beat him up are on the run. While speaking to mediapersons, a police official said, "The truck carrying 30 cattle was seized by police personnel. A man has been arrested. We'll conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action."
Washington DC (US), July 22 (ANI): Protesters from Muttahida Qasmi Movement (MQM) and other minority groups held protest in Washington DC. They protested during Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to the United States (US). The demonstration brought together a range of campaigners who travelled from all around the United States only to protest against the oppression by the Pakistani state, human rights violations and state-sponsored atrocities against the oppressed minorities in Pakistan. Their placards read, "No more blank cheques for Pakistani Army" and "Protect Minority Rights in Pakistan". New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan at his residence in Delhi on Monday. His younger brother and Lok Janshakti Party MP Ram Chandra Paswan passed away on Sunday. Ram Chandra Paswan died at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. He was 56. Birla also met Chirag Paswan.
