Norway, Aug 19 (ANI): Pakistan former Prime Minister Pervez Musharraf was forced to leave an event midway at Nobel Peace Centre after Baloch activists held protest. The event was organised by Nobel Peace Center in Norway's Oslo but had to be cancelled after massive protest against Musharraf. Baloch activists were opposing the fact that a monocart was called to decide the Noble Peace prize. Activist of Baloch Republican Party Abdul Nawaz Bugti said former Pakistan PM is a butcher, ex-dictator and criminal. Though Musharraf addressed the event attendees for a while, he had to stop and leave after the protest went out of control.
Sweden, Aug 19 (ANI): India was the theme country for the week-long 2017 Stockholm Cultural Festival, which coincided with the 70th Independence Day. The Stockholm City Council awarded the Embassy of India a prime slot opposite the Royal Castle to enable it to unfurl the Indian tricolor. Hailing the contribution of Sweden and India in the digital economy, Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg said they would like to see more Indian companies operating in Sweden. Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia Monika Kapil Mohta said this is the first time that a non-EU country has been chosen as the theme country at the Stockholm Culture Festival. U.S.A, Aug 19 (ANI): Sporting goods stocks are getting slammed on Foot Locker's weak results. The athletic wear retailer's quarterly sales at existing stores fell down to six percent and Foot Locker warned sales will decline by up to four percent for the rest of the year. Foot Locker blamed the degrading sales on the lack of new innovative products. It's the latest sports retailer to report weak earnings and on Friday, Hibbett Sports said its same-store sales fell nearly 12 percent. Earlier this week, Dick's Sporting Goods posted flat comparable sales and warned that'll decline in the third quarter.
Jandali (PoK), Aug 19 (ANI): A massive rally was organised in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) by Jammu and Kashmir National Students' Federation in Jandali, demanding freedom from Pakistan. Hundreds of protestors demonstrated carrying placards and raised slogans for the freedom of PoK. They also attacked the Pakistani government for sending terrorists to their region. There have been constant reports of protests over Pakistan's oppressive policies and grave human rights violations in the region.

Canada, Aug 19 (ANI): The mystery of a long-lost engagement ring was solved when it was found wrapped around a carrot in a garden in Canada. The 84-year-old Mary Grams was devastated when she lost the ring while weeding on the family farm in Alberta in 2004. Years later, the missing band has now reappeared, wrapped around a carrot. The carrot had grown straight through the ring, enabling it to be plucked out after many years hiding in the soil.
Birgunj (Nepal), Aug 18 (ANI): In Nepal, incessant rains have flooded hundreds of villages leaving many dead and several injured and the government has come under fire for not responding fast enough to the disaster. Hundreds of flood-hit families have been taking shelter in public places and local schools and living on empty stomachs without any proper relief and relocation. More than 26 districts in Terai region have been badly affected by flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall. A delegation led by Rashtriya Janta Party Nepal (RJP-N) leaders demanded to set up high-level National Level Reconstruction Authority to carry out relief and rehabilitation program and agreed to release 26 billion rupees for the relief work immediately.
Barcelona (Spain), Aug 18 (ANI): Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy condemned the shameful terror attack and said the van attack in the Catalan city of Barcelona that killed at least 13 people was 'jihadist terrorism' which required a global response. Rajoy said he would call on other Spanish political parties to reaffirm the country's anti-terrorism pact. Police has confirmed the arrest of one man in the terror attack. Terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): Malala Yousafzai, who earlier won the Nobel Peace Prize for her campaign against Taliban efforts to deny women education, has now won a place at one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious educational establishments - the Oxford University. The Pakistani education activist came to prominence when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head in 2012 when she was just 17. She was treated in the U.K. and after recovering from the attack, attended school there. Yousafzai has accepted to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
Australia, Aug 18 (ANI): A group of family and friends on a fishing trip were treated to an exciting whale sighting off the coast of New South Wales, Australia. Glenn Brasen and his 11-year-old son were seen fishing with two friends when a humpback whale suddenly appeared, seemingly caught on their fishing lines. The video, which went viral on social media, shows the whale breaking through the water before swimming away and purportedly snapping their lines.

Kyoto (Japan), Aug 17 (ANI): Japanese primatologists have discovered an amazing fact about chimpanzees which showed that they are capable of understanding the rock-paper-scissors game. The Primate Research Institute at Kyoto University in Japan conducted a research that showed a chimpanzee repetitively choosing the winning hand sign in the game, in exchange for treats. The study was conducted with an aim to understand if chimpanzees could learn transverse patterns if trained in the rules of rock-paper-scissors game. In this game, paper beats rock, rock beats scissors, and scissors beats paper. The performance of the chimpanzee was similar to that of a four-year-old child though the last common ancestor of humans and chimps took more time to grasp the game than children.

Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 17 (ANI): Nepal Parliament started deliberations over the Constitution amendment proposal tabled earlier. Nepal law Minister Yagya Bahadur Thapa had put forward the amendment proposal in the parliament to start deliberation, which was approved by majority of lawmakers. The second Constitution amendment proposal -2073 has 50 amendments on the table. The first lawmaker to take part in the deliberation was Rewati Raman Bhandari from opposition (Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist). The doubt that still prevails over the amendment is its endorsement because the government has to garner the two-third majority for passing the bill. But the consensus from Madhesh-based parties has raised hopes and confidence of getting the bill endorsed.
