	Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian team in the ODI format. Sharma is a right-handed batsman, right-arm off-break bowler. The &#39;Hitman&#39; as he is called, has enjoyed an illustrious international career across all formats. In Test cricket (2013&ndash;2024), he played 67 matches, scoring 4,301 runs in 116 innings at an average of 40.57, with 12 centuries and a highest score of 212. In the ODI format (2007&ndash;2025), he has been one of India&rsquo;s most consistent performers, amassing 11,168 runs in 273 matches at an impressive average of 48.76, including 32 centuries and a record-breaking 264 as his highest score.<br />

	His strike rate of 92.8 reflects his aggressive batting style. In T20 Internationals (2007&ndash;2024), Rohit scored 4,231 runs in 159 games at an average of 32.05 and a strike rate of 140.89, registering 5 centuries and 32 half-centuries. 		Rohit Sharma made his Cricket World Cup debut in March 2015, participating in eight matches during the tournament hosted in Australia. India advanced to the semi-finals but were defeated by the hosts. Sharma accumulated 330 runs in the tournament, which included a century&mdash;137 runs&mdash;against Bangladesh in the quarter-final.</p>

		In April 2019, Sharma was named vice-captain of India&rsquo;s squad for the ICC World Cup in England. He started the tournament with a century (122 runs) against South Africa, during which he also crossed the 12,000-run mark in international cricket. He continued his stellar form with centuries against Pakistan, England, and Bangladesh. In the match against Sri Lanka, he scored his fifth century of the tournament, becoming the first cricketer to achieve five centuries in a single World Cup edition. This feat also tied him with Sachin Tendulkar for the most centuries (six) across all World Cups. Sharma finished as the tournament&#39;s top run-scorer with 648 runs, earning the ICC Golden Bat award, becoming the third Indian to claim the honour.</p>

		On 8 October 2023, Sharma captained India in a World Cup match for the first time, leading the side against Australia. At that point, he became the oldest player to captain India in a World Cup, underlining his experience and leadership. Just a few days later, on 11 October, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar&rsquo;s record for the most World Cup centuries by scoring his seventh century during a game against Afghanistan.</p>
