Bandaloop swirls a snappy treat

The Golconda fort’s centuries-old granite wall became the dance floor for 40 minutes on Sunday afternoon as the American dance group Project Bandaloop served its magical, gravity-defying movements.
Suspended from ropes, the eight dancers leapt and soared, and waved like leaves to the wind of music, while the audience lapped it up from virtually every contour of the fort’s sprawling Naginmahal yard.
With a message to save heritage rocks, the show also featured a classical welcome number presented by a group of Indian dancers. The eight-member Bandaloop team was led by Amelia Rudolph.
The show was sponsored by the United States Consulate in Hyderabad, in association with the state tourism department. According to an official release, the Bandaloop choreography draws on aerial, vertical and horizontal movement to craft site-specific dances. It explores the relationship between movement and gravity.
