Air Deccan reschedules flights to Surat

Low-cost carrier Air Deccan, the only airline which flies to Surat, has rescheduled its flights from Mumbai to Surat and Bhavnagar with effect from Thursday.

"We have decided to reschedule our flights out of Mumbai to Surat and Bhavnagar to assist in expanding the runway expansion work and upgradation of the Surat airport," said G R Gopinath, managing director, Air Deccan.

The airline has decided to fly into Surat later in the day. As the Surat airport will remain closed on Sundays, Air Deccan has temporarily suspended flights on that days to Surat.

Passengers who have already booked flight tickets on Sundays can reschedule them at no additional cost or change in ticket price.

"Changing the flight timing of Surat has helped in advancing the flight timing of Bhavnagar which would help the business class travellers to Mumbai tremendously by arriving early," said Gopinath.

As per the new schedule, flight number DN 327 will depart from Mumbai at 12.10 pm and would reach Surat at 1 pm and the flight number DN 328 will depart from Surat at 1.20 pm and would reach Mumbai at 2.15 pm.

Similarly, the daily flight from Mumbai will depart at 9.15 am and will arrive Bhavnagar at 10.20 am and the daily flight from Bhavnagar will depart from Bhavnagar at 10.40 am and would reach Mumbai at 11.45 am.

The company has started its operations between Mumbai and Bhavnagar via Surat as its initiative to connect Mumbai with Gujarat and rest of the Maharashtra at lowest airfares in June 2004.

The company has already been flying between Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Bhuj, Vadodara-Mumbai, Mumbai-Belgaum, Mumbai-Goa, Mumbai-Kolhapur and Kolhapur-Belgaum from April 26, 2004, apart from having a strong presence in south India.

The company has targeted to fly over two million passenger by the end of the current financial year. Air Deccan is a unit of the Deccan Aviation, India's largest private heli-charter company.

Formed in 1995, Deccan Aviation has carved a niche for itself in the Indian aviation scene with its reputation for providing speedy and reliable heli-services for company charters, tourism, medical evacuation, offshore logistics among other services.
