Bush, Bernanke trigger Wall Street rally

| US stocks zoomed on Friday as President Bush and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke reassured investors they would do what was needed to shelter the economy from market turmoil. While the Dow moved up 119 points to 13,358, the Nasdaq Composite gained 31 points to close at 2,596. Indian ADRs, too, logged sharp gains yesterday. ICICI Bank zoomed nearly 8% to $44.45. HDFC Bank advanced nearly 7% to $88.65. Wipro was up over 4% at $14.63. Infosys, Satyam, Dr. Reddy's, WNS and Genpact also finished with gains. |
