Arun Jain, the managing director of Jainsons Aircon, believes that innovation is a must at any cost.

Jain did a diploma in air conditioning from Delhi in 1964 and soon after that he set up a service centre for refrigerators and air conditioners.

However, his real break came in 1978 when he started manufacturing air conditioners in the small scale sector and supplying them to Escorts.

Over the next two decades, he experimented with various models of air conditioners including the split AC, the side-flow AC and the portable AC.

However, in 2000, Jain had to shut down the air conditioner business because of stiff competition from multinational companies. But his spirit of innovation persisted and he recently launched Clean Aire
